Wearability Research Scientist, Reality Labs

Seattle, WA

At Meta Reality Labs (RL), we are inventing the future. We bring together a world-class team of researchers, developers, & engineers to build the future of connection within virtual and augmented reality. Understanding the user is at the center of our research, as it informs our work in industrial and product design, functionality of our devices, and practically all components of our headsets (Mixed Reality, Augmented Reality and AI glasses). As a Wearability Research Scientist at Meta Reality Labs, you will be tackling the challenges that will define cutting-edge next generation smart and MR headsets, AR, AI glasses, and other wearables. We are currently seeking innovative and self-motivated Research Scientist with a human-centered, human factors, and/or product design background to join a multidisciplinary applied research team and push forward the state of the art in wearability and fitment. A lot of our work centers around analyzing 3D scan data to understand fit and design better wearables. You will break down ambiguous problems and master research methods, including but, not limited to, design of experiments, expert review, psychophysics & threshold detection, biomechanics & ergonomics, and safety research approaches. You will prove highly effective at driving insights into actionable product engineering & development outcomes and metrics and collaborate closely with cross functional partners to help shape critical product and technology decisions across the product design and development life cycle. Common types of work are taking a real-world user challenge, analyze data including 3D anthropometric data and derive insights that apply directly to designing wearable products, design and run user-studies and data collection processes. You will work across multi-disciplinary hardware and software teams to push the boundaries of RL products while enhancing the value users get from these products. Ultimately, your expertise and ingenuity in research must do more than just contribute to knowledge and assessment - you must also be skilled at driving measurable impact on the user experience of our products.
