Join us to bridge the gaps between the physical you and virtual you in many products Meta has to offer, and bring the world closer together.Our team is looking for an exceptional systems engineering manager to help create and scale state-of-the-art motion-capture systems to revolutionize photorealistic telepresence in virtual reality, thus enabling the ability to interact with anyone, anytime, anywhere. We have made some important advances, but it will take a team with a wide spectrum of skills to fully realize this goal. We need to harden our systems and processes so we can repeatedly capture at high volumes.As a System engineering manager, you will support your team members and help them realize their goals and aspirations. You will hire diverse talent and grow the team. You will build partnership and trust with other teams.The ideal candidate is a person with demonstrated experience in the full life cycle of systems development and has demonstrated cultivating an honest and considerate environment where self-motivated individuals thrive. System Engineering Manager Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical guidance to innovate, improve reliability, and scale complex motion capture systems.
  • Create career development plans and manage the performance of engineers working on advanced AR/VR RnD.
  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, risk analysis, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Build, nurture and lead a healthy team by providing guidance, mentorship and support to engineers.
  • Lead issue review and prioritization process
  • including designing and implementing tests, debugging and defining corrective actions.
  • Collaborate in a diverse team environment across multiple scientific and engineering disciplines, making the architectural tradeoffs required to rapidly deliver solutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience of complex system design.
  • 3+ years experience working with multi-disciplinary teams, and bringing people together to create solutions.
  • 1+ years leading the work of other engineers.
  • System design and test experience with one or more subsystems or disciplines outside of Systems Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Software, etc.).
  • Experience in systems engineering processes, system architecture principles, and/or systems integration into development program life cycle activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in the field of Engineering, Physics, or related degree.
  • 5+ years of experience working within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Experience building sensing systems which include cameras, depth sensors, IMUs, microphones, etc.
  • Experience designing optical systems incorporating diffractive optical elements and building measurement systems to characterize diffractive optical elements.
  • Experience with software development, including but not limited to C, C++, or Python.
  • Familiarity of computer and networking architectures, server development and deployment.
