Software Engineer, On-Device

Redmond, WA

In this role, you will design and implement advanced real-time smart glasses features on custom embedded computer vision/machine learning processors. You will then make them available to an extensive internal and external user community. You will work with leading-edge contextual AI researchers to deploy their algorithms into end-to-end, real-time user-experience applications. You will also actively collaborate with our server team find the ideal partitioning of various algorithms between device and cloud.

Software Engineer, On-Device Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute engineering development to advance the state-of-the-art in machine perception research for Contextualized AI
  • Collaborate closely with researchers, engineers, and product managers across multiple teams at Meta to design, architect and implement prototypes
  • Debug complex, system-level, multi-component issues that typically span across multiple layers from sensor to application
  • Lead major initiatives, projects, roll-outs and phased-releases

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience working in large scale C++ and Python code base
  • 2+ years of experience in developing and prototyping machine perception algorithms
  • Demonstrated knowledge with API/SDK design in the context of hardware devices
  • Experience developing, debugging, and shipping software products on large code bases that span platforms and tools
  • Experience with software development processes including: source control, bug tracking, and design documentation
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics or related technical field
  • Experience with low-level programming (DSPs, MCUs, etc) and mobile accelerators
  • Experience with device-to-cloud low-latency applications
  • Experience in AOSP development

$85.10/hour to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
