Research Scientist, Machine Learning for Sensing Signal Modeling (PhD)

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Machine Learning Research Scientist with a background in Computer Vision to join our team. The successful candidate will work on developing state-of-the-art multimodal sensory dexterity manipulation foundation models for robotics control policy learning.

Research Scientist, Machine Learning for Sensing Signal Modeling (PhD) Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement novel computer vision and machine learning algorithms for multi-modal dexterity manipulation foundational models
  • Work with researchers, designers, engineers, and other roles, to explore and enable high-value applications in AR/VR, robotics and test critical hypotheses
  • Collaborate with a team of researchers and engineers to develop and deploy new models, techniques, demos
  • Contribute to the development of research papers and presentations
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning, computer vision, signal processing and deep learning
  • Produce high-quality, well-documented code to implement and evaluate new algorithms

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta
  • 4+ years of experience in machine learning, computer vision projects
  • Hands-on experience with PyTorch frameworks, and applied knowledge to design, develop, and implement artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions
  • Proficient in one or more programming languages, such as Python or C++
  • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Background in multi-modal learning
  • Experience with robotics control policy learning
  • Experience with reinforcement learning
  • Experience with human pose or hand pose tracking
  • Experience with large-scale dataset preparation and management
  • Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences in computer vision, machine learning, or human-computer interaction
  • Experience in wearable sensors / systems and non-CV signals processing e.g. EMG, IMU, EIT
  • Experience working and communicating cross-functionally in a team environment

$117,000/year to $173,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
