The Reality Labs Research Partnerships team is seeking a Research Partnerships and Outbound IP Licensing Manager to lead technology outbound licensing with research and technology partners at Reality Labs. Your job is to work with leading researchers and technologists to map out the technology landscape, formulate partnership strategies, and to define what mixed, virtual and augmented reality would look like 5+ years in the future. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary, cross-functional team pushing on the visual aspect of the immersive computing experience: optics & displays, computer vision, AI/ML, materials, and related display technologies. Outbound IP Licensing Manager - RL Research Responsibilities:
- Execute on outbound licensing technology to research and technology partners to accelerate development, adoption and commercialization of technology for the next generation AR/MR and wearable products
- Identify, define, structure, negotiate, and close complex IP, joint-development and licensing deals with startups, research institutes, public companies, and other ecosystem players innovating in AR/MR optics & displays, materials and related fields
- Work cross-functionally with legal, finance, and research teams to define/negotiate deal and license terms, drive special projects, and advocate internally for technology and partners
- Develop technology roadmap, applications, ecosystem, addressable market, and company landscape analysis in various technology areas
- Explore and identify new applications for hardware/ software components, and technologies for vertical markets outside of AR/MR
- 5+ years of experience negotiating outbound or inbound Intellectual Property (IP) license agreements
- Experience leading cross-functional teams to orchestrate and complete deals
- Experience with structuring and negotiating the business, technology and legal aspects of partnership agreements for technology licensing and joint development
- 5+ years of business development experience with a track record of working with partners to bringing new technologies to market
- Experience interpreting legal documents, negotiating contracts, and working with attorneys to complete agreements
- Experience and knowledge of the AR/VR/MR industry, with specific knowledge of optics and displays, materials or related technologies
- Creative, resourceful, detail-oriented and highly organized
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Optical Engineering
- Proven analytical, communication and presentation skills with technical, contractual and financial issues
- Experience in establishing relationships and presence within the consumer electronics sector with proven experience reaching and exceeding goals
- Experience operating with flexibility in a fast-paced, dynamic and collaborative environment and working effectively cross-functionally with all levels of management, both internal and external
- Experience building partnerships for new hardware products including managing complex projects and end-to-end negotiations
- Technical knowledge and learning mindset

$129,000/year to $187,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
