Image Sensor Architect

Redmond, WA

We're looking to hire a sensor architect with specialized technical skills and a background in depth, image and other types of optical sensor development. Successful candidates will have previous experience driving architecture convergence on complex consumer electronics products, as well as experience with silicon definition and evaluation and systems understanding. This role will work collaboratively with experts in different fields to make new sensing architecture or tradeoffs for definition, selection and integration of leading edge optical sensors into product.

Image Sensor Architect Responsibilities:

  • Own sensor technology and architecture roadmap.
  • Lead technical efforts to architect novel image/depth sensors.
  • Conduct review and trade-off studies for different sensor technologies solutions from leading sensor vendors and research institutes. Influence their research roadmaps, identify opportunity for deeper collaboration
  • Work with XFN teams to define mid / long term strategy on sensor technologies, influencing team's key investment by communicating it effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Physics, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of industry experience, or PhD with 3+ years of industry experience in optical sensor silicon design or archi.
  • Knowledge of image or depth sensor block or top level design: pixels, readout.
  • Knowledge of sensor operation and performance tradeoff.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS in Electrical Engineering or Physics, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Understanding of sensor system requirement, sensor silicon design and manufacturing flow, and track record of driving complex consumer electronics projects from specification definition to mass production.
  • Hands-on design or architecture experience on pixel, readout, ISP and interface for image capture sensor, machine perception sensor, or depth sensor.
  • Deep knowledge in one of the following: pixel/ulens/filter design, low power design techniques, machine learning/computer vision HW pipelines design, or process technology and packaging.
  • Proficiency with data collection and analysis tools, including scripting languages such as C/C++, Python, and MATLAB/
