Hearing Research Scientist Responsibilities:
- Research and design DSP and ML solutions for hearing features such as Conversation Focus and Hearing Correction on smart glasses. The work may include using both signal processing & ML techniques to solve problems in hearing enhancement (dynamic range compression, feedback management, adaptive filtering, noise suppression, dereverberation etc) and speech enhancement (adaptive beamforming, ML noise suppression, voice detection)
- The key focus in this role is to bring previous experience of developing such solutions for hearing aids or other hearables and apply such experience to the smart glasses form factor
- Design and implement hearing enhancement algorithms for wearable audio devices
- Develop solutions that solve complex problems at the intersection between beamforming, machine learning, acoustics and signal processing for applications in AR/VR
- Develop algorithms that meet system-level acoustic, compute, and memory constraints for wearable audio devices
- Collaborate with teams in the larger Reality Labs audio team to deploy new technologies in AR/VR products
- PhD degree or equivalent in Applied Mathematics, Audio Engineering and Signal Processing, Acoustics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- 3+ years experience developing, implementing and evaluating algorithm and signal processing techniques for audio processing
- 3+ years experience in programming in C++, MATLAB, or Python
- Experience with cross-group collaboration
- Expertise in hearing enhancement signal processing and auditory perception
- 2+ years of experience in speech, hearing and audio perception research & technology development
- 3+ years experience developing, implementing and evaluating algorithm and signal processing techniques for speech enhancement solutions
- Experience with application of machine learning techniques to speech enhancement algorithms
- Experience and proven track record of developing and productizing speech enhancement solutions
