CFE - Data Scientist

This role impacts the future of how we develop our devices. This role will quantify, and visualize the effects of fit system donning and stability on our critical VR systems (display and optics, eye tracking, face tracking, hand tracking)

CFE - Data Scientist Responsibilities:

  • Co-develop a simulation tool that merges subsystem key performance indicators with fit system data
  • Parse and query data relating to physical fit and human factors, often involving physical and mechanical behaviors, high volume spatial/3-dimensional data, and motion over time
  • Apply knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to recognize patterns, identify opportunities, pose business questions, and make valuable discoveries leading to prototype development and product improvement
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, and product teams to translate ergonomic insights into actionable product requirements and design improvements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience with Python for statistical analysis, signal processing, and machine learning (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, SciPy, scikit-learn, Jupyter, MATLAB)
  • 2+ years of experience working with large spatial or anthropometric datasets and 3D analysis tools (scipy.spatial, Shapely, Rhino/Grasshopper, Blender)
  • 2+ years of experience making interactive visualizations, dashboards, realtime applications, and data collection pipelines (Plotly, PyQt, OpenGL/Vulkan/etc., LSL, C++)
  • 2+ years of experience practicing coding best practices and version control (Git/GitHub, Mercurial)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate statistical concepts
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience or familiarity with 3D scanning, motion capture (especially Qualisys), and eye tracking (especially Tobii)
  • Familiarity with product development workflows including CAD, FEA, and rapid prototyping
  • 10+ years of experience with Python for statistical analysis, signal processing, and machine learning (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, SciPy, scikit-learn, Jupyter, MATLAB)
  • 5+ years of experience working with large spatial or anthropometric datasets and 3D analysis tools (scipy.spatial, Shapely, Rhino/Grasshopper, Blender)
  • 5+ years of experience making interactive visualizations, dashboards, realtime applications, and data collection pipelines (Plotly, PyQt, OpenGL/Vulkan/etc., LSL, C++)
  • 5+ years of experience practicing coding best practices and version control (Git/GitHub, Mercurial)
  • Experience developing plugins and using API's for Rhino, Grasshopper, and Qualisys
  • Experience developing games, VR applications, or realtime applications with modern graphics APIs and toolkits like Vulkan, OpenGL, Unreal, Unity, and OVRServer
  • Robotics, mechatronics, and instrumentation experience

$139,000/year to $200,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
