As a Battery Software/Firmware Technical Program Manager (TPM) at Reality Labs, you will lead algorithm and gauging development programs through the product development process to integrate into custom and semi-custom Battery modules/systems that drive our industry-leading AR/VR/Smartglasses systems. You will establish requirements with internal and external PCM/BMU and Gauge IC customers, manage program schedules, identify risks and associated mitigation plans, and clearly communicate to program stakeholders or TPM partners. Battery Software/Firmware Technical Program Manager Responsibilities:
- As part of the Battery team, you will drive and track the investigation, definition, and delivery of battery PCM/BMU SW/FW/algorithm solutions.
- Create development, delivery, and qualification schedules based on battery pack level and system software architecture requirements, technical challenges, lead-times and business needs.
- Manage communication within, and between, internal electrical engineering, validation engineering, software engineering, and external vendor teams.
- Contribute to resource planning to ensure program success.
- Ensure program documents are complete, current and available for staff and leadership review.
- Organize required face to face on site meetings with vendors.
- Assist engineering and sourcing teams with supplier evaluation and selection.
- Coordinate and contribute to engineering deliverables, including specifications, design options, and test plans.
- Up to 20% travel.
- Work with teams to set milestones, communicate program statuses, and identify/address potential setbacks.
- Work cross-functionally to develop best practices and technology development processes in a quickly-changing and dynamic environment to ensure on time delivery.
- BS in Engineering field or equivalent experience.
- 1+ years experience working on Battery projects.
- 5+ years experience working as a new product introduction or similar program manager for consumer electronics software/firmware work.
- Experience with component and module qualification, validation and characterization processes.
- Understanding of phase gate approach to technology development projects.
- Proven experience with program and issue tracking.
- Proven experience operating autonomously across multiple teams and projects.
- Proven communicator who can translate high-level goals into tangible action plans, and vice-versa & expertise communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with Lithium-Ion battery pack development and functional testing.
- Knowledge in tier 1 battery PCM/BMU/SiP, protection IC, or gas gauge supply chain.
- PCM/BMU design, protection IC implementation, and/or battery gas gauge algorithm/firmware experience.
