Meta seeks a highly motivated team player with a background in and passion for global trade counseling to serve as Associate General Counsel, Sanctions Compliance. This position will play a key role in advising on Meta's sanctions compliance program, products, and global business initiatives, as well as providing legal counsel and support for broader global trade compliance initiatives. Associate General Counsel, Sanctions Compliance Responsibilities:
- Provide legal and strategic advice to internal clients on compliance with U.S. and international sanctions regimes and other related legal and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams across the company to assess and mitigate sanctions and other trade compliance risks related to products, business initiatives, third party engagements, and other transactions
- Advise on the development, implementation, management, and continuous improvement of policies, processes, and controls intended to enhance Meta's global trade compliance program, and in the remediation of issues identified in audits and investigations
- Develop and provide training and communications to employees and third parties on sanctions and other global trade compliance matters
- Develop, review, and advise on global trade compliance provisions in contracts supporting a broad range of internal clients and business initiatives
- Undertake special projects and support other compliance program initiatives as needed

- J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent)
- Active membership in at least one US state bar and eligibility to obtain registered in-house counsel status (if required by the State Bar in the assigned work location)
- 8+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including at a law firm and/or in-house or government experience
- 5+ years of experience counseling on U.S. and international sanctions laws and regulations, within the U.S. government, at a law firm, and/or in-house
- Record of legal and business judgment and strategic thinking
- Effective presentation and communication skills
- Demonstrate business judgment and client counseling skills
- Experience working in-house and advising clients in technology, e-commerce, telecommunications, and/or consumer electronics industries
- Experience advising on EU and UK sanctions laws and regulations
- Experience handling U.S. and international antiboycott, export, and import compliance issues
- Experience drafting and negotiating global trade compliance contract provisions
- Experience conducting internal investigations and responding to governmental inquiries relating to corporate global trade compliance matters, performing root cause analysis, and developing and implementing remedial actions
- Familiarity with other compliance risk areas (e.g., anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, digital services/digital markets regulations, data protection, competition, political activities)
- Experience working with global cross-functional teams

$198,000/year to $266,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
