Job Description:

This job is responsible for analyzing and interpreting large datasets to uncover potential revenue generation opportunities and develop effective risk management strategies. Key responsibilities include collaborating with key stakeholders to comprehend business problems, utilizing data gathering and analysis techniques to devise solutions, and presenting recommendations based on the findings. This is a Data Scientist role in Bank of America Erica, Chat and Voice Technology team. The team builds next generation AI and Search platforms for the bank, enabling smart virtual assistants across multiple channels and platforms. This position requires candidate to be well versed with various machine learning algorithms and NLP techniques. Role offers an opportunity to work with seasoned architects, PhDs in Machine Learning and NLP. Several of the team members have been granted multiple patents in the space. Candidate must possess passion for clean code, producing defect free software, ready to jump in and solve complex problems, be able to collaborate with others in a matrixed organization to deliver.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs business analytics, which includes data analysis, trend identification, and pattern recognition, using advanced techniques (e.g., machine learning, text mining, statistical analysis, etc.) to support decision-making and drive data-driven insights
  • Applies agile practices for project management, solution development, deployment, and maintenance
  • Creates and maintains technical documentation, capturing the business requirements and specifications related to the developed analytical solution and its implementation in production
  • Manages multiple priorities and maintains quality and timeliness of work deliverables such as quantitative models, data science products, data analysis reports, or data visualizations, while exhibiting the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Delivers engaging presentations and engages in both in-person and virtual conversations that effectively communicate technical concepts and analysis results to a diverse set of internal stakeholders, and develops professional relationships to foster collaboration on work deliverables
  • Mitigates risk by identifying potential issues and developing controls
  • Researches the latest advances in the fields of data science and artificial intelligence to support business analytics
  • Develop NLP/AI virtual assistants, Generative AI, and agentic AI solutions

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with machine learning and related techniques
  • Strong Python development skills
  • Knowledge of recent developments in AI space including but not limited to transformers, LLMs, Generative AI
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Good understanding of a version control system like git to be able to efficiently collaborate with colleagues.
  • Adept at leveraging ML/AI techniques to solve critical business problems with good understanding of Supervised, Unsupervised and Reinforcement Learning.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills for tech and business conversations
  • Good analytical skills to break down requirements, solve complex problems

Desired Qualifications:

  • Background in mathematics or statistics
  • Experience working on Java based applications
  • Experience building restful web services
  • Experience with NoSQL databases like Cassandra
  • Experience with open source search engines like SOLR, elasticsearch
  • Experience working in agile teams
