Job Description
The Elkhorn, Nebraska site is hiring a Manager, Operations (M1) for our Upstream Manufacturing team. The primary focus of this role is to provide direct oversight of the execution of manufacturing operations for production and the performance management and development of our people to ensure the organization's productivity targets are achieved. The selected candidate will primarily work Monday-Friday and will manage a team working a three shifts. However, the candidate, along with his/her team, will be occasionally expected to work 2nd shift, 3rd shift, weekend work, or take calls after hours as the job requires.
Position Responsibilities
Employee Development & Leadership:
- Models Company leadership principles and inclusive behaviors.
- Responsible for hiring, managing, and developing employees.
- Provides coaching and supports skills development and process capabilities within the IPT.
- Is responsible for providing effective feedback and coaching within the team during the Performance Management cycle and ensuring that Employee Development Plans (EDP's) are in place.
- Is accountable for ensuring all operators receive appropriate training for all assigned tasks.
- Is accountable for the effective performance management of individuals in their teams.
- Responsible for leading Tier and functional team meetings.
Safety Compliance:
- Demonstrates a strong compliance mindset (EHS, Quality and Finance) and continuously sets a high standard for themselves and their team.
- Ensures that themselves and their team follow safe operating instructions for all tasks and equipment.
- Ensures that the right tools and equipment specified for the task are available and utilized.
- Ensures that the correct personal protective equipment required is available and utilized.
- Ensures all incidents and near misses are reported within 24 hours and participates in the investigation and identification of effective corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
Quality Compliance:
- Supports the on-time completion of Quality compliance tasks in relation to Deviation, CAPA and Change Control management.
- Supports all aspects of Quality Assurance including cGMP, RFT and good documentation practices and provides coaching to the rest of their team.
Productivity:
- Is accountable for the daily, weekly, and monthly schedule adherence of production activities within their department.
- Contributes to creating a culture of continuous improvement and leads by example.
- Sponsors effectives problem solving and ensures that resources are available.
- Ensures visibility and communication of key productivity metrics with the teams.
- Responsible for the implementation and execution of Standard Work in all functional areas.
Financial:
- Is responsible for meeting agreed departmental budget for Spend, Transfers to Inventory (TTI), Discards and Headcount.
- Recognizes and investigates opportunities for financial savings.
Education Minimum Requirement:
- High School Diploma/GED with five years in the vaccine, pharmaceutical, food, or equivalent industry or
- Bachelor's degree with three years in the vaccine, pharmaceutical, food, or equivalent industry
Required Experience | Skills | Knowledge
- Excellent teambuilding skills that focus on mentoring and coaching
- Working knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP's) or equivalent regulations
- Ability to prioritize, focus on and obtain results
- Working knowledge of aseptic techniques
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills
- Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
Preferred Experience | Skills | Knowledge
- Supervisory experience
- Experience with viral manufacturing process, including but not limited to roller bottle and bioreactor production
- Experience in SAP and inventory control
- Lean, Six Sigma experience
