This position is based in Temple, TX, which will require the candidate to report and work from the office on a regular basis. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute commute to Temple, TX

The Accounts Payable Supervisor will supervise accounts payable team(s) consisting of non-exempt and possibly, exempt staff. Responsibility could range from 10 to 30 people. Interact directly with suppliers, merchandising, distribution center leaders, and corporate accounting staff to resolve issues. Recommend procedural improvements and system enhancements.

Essential Job Functions/Principal Accountabilities:

  • Ensure new teammates are effectively trained in their job duties optimizing proficiency and productivity.
  • Monitor team member's work to ensure work is performed with speed and accuracy.
  • Document any issues that may arise from systems or direct reports.
  • Participate in the preparation and administration of teammate performance evaluations, performance improvement documentation, and training.
  • Prioritize and manage work assignments to meet weekly, period, and quarterly goals for the company and suppliers.
  • Oversee daily department operations and function as point person when manager is out of the office.
  • Participate in accounting period close processes.
  • Solve problems and achieve results while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
  • Utilize expert skills and job knowledge to recommend and develop system and procedural enhancements.
  • Function as liaison when interacting with internal McLane departments and external McLane suppliers.
  • Communicate well both verbally and in writing with suppliers, controllers, and other teams to inform of work status or to raise awareness of financially impactful issues.
  • Lead and be responsible for special projects and assignments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Business, or closely related field. A concentration in accounting is preferred.
  • 4 or more years of experience in an accounting related field.
  • 2 or more years of experience in a computerized accounting environment.
  • Supervisory or lead experience is required.
  • Prior Oracle experience is preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Excel.
  • CPA certification or intention to pursue CPA is desirable.
  • Knowledge of GAAP related to AP or AR functions and maintenance of AP AR ledger accounts.
