McKesson Medical-Surgical is seeking a strategic and dynamic Training Manager to lead training initiatives across our distribution network. This role oversees a team of field trainers and a training coordinator, ensuring readiness for new facility launches, process improvements, compliance initiatives, and large-scale rollouts. Training is delivered both remotely and onsite, with travel requirements up to 75% depending on project needs. This is a remote, US-based role, but due to travel expectations, candidates near major airport hubs are preferred.

As key leaders on the Corporate Operations Learning & Development (L&D) team, the Training Manager will work in close partnership with the Technical Writing Manager to align training and documentation. They will collaborate with Field Operations, Quality, Six Sigma, PMO, LMS, and other teams to ensure content is accurate, compliant, and operationally effective. The Training Manager also serves as the network’s eQMS (MasterControl) gatekeeper, overseeing assignments, reporting, course releases, and job code structures to maintain audit readiness and compliance.

The Training Manager plays a pivotal role in rolling out train-the-trainer content and partnering with distribution center leadership, most notably the Continuous Improvement Leaders (CILs), who then support their sites in cascading the training to all frontline employees. This approach empowers local execution and fosters a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Network & Project-Based Training Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of field trainers and a training coordinator.
  • Partner with distribution center leadership to support local training execution via a train-the-trainer approach.
  • Oversee network trainer scheduling, travel, and resource allocation.
  • Deliver training both remotely and onsite across the network.

L&D, Documentation, and Quality Alignment

  • Collaborate with the Technical Writing Manager to align training content with SOPs and operational standards.
  • Ensure training programs meet regulatory and audit-readiness requirements.
  • Provide compliance-focused input during course development.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Monitor training completion and data integrity across MasterControl and MLP platforms.
  • Maintain audit readiness through accurate documentation and proactive risk mitigation.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, regulatory, and operational standards.

Cross-Functional Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with Field Operations, Quality, Six Sigma, PMO, LMS, and other teams.
  • Champion training as a change management tool for new systems and processes.

Reporting & Metrics

  • Develop and present training performance dashboards and compliance metrics.
  • Use training data to identify trends, skill gaps, and improvement opportunities.

eQMS (MasterControl) Leadership

  • Serve as the MasterControl SME and gatekeeper for the network.
  • Manage course releases, job code structures, and LMS alignment.
  • Provide MasterControl support and guidance to trainers, CILs, and site leadership.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 6+ years of professional experience and 0-2 years of supervisory experience.

Qualifications:

  • 5–10 years of experience in Learning & Development (including public or private education), Operations, or Quality-related roles.
  • Proven success in leading multi-site, project-based training programs.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic Quality Management Systems (eQMS), especially MasterControl.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop remote teams in a dynamic, multi-project environment.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills.
  • Experience aligning training programs with compliance, audit-readiness, and operational standards.
  • Ability to analyze training data to identify trends, skill gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships with distribution center leadership to support cascading training efforts beyond initial trainers.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$72,800 - $121,300
