Summary 
We’re seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our team in Columbus, OH. This role offers the flexibility of remote work while requiring residence in the metropolitan area. You’ll contribute to the full software development lifecycle, solve complex technical challenges, and collaborate across teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.

Ruby, Rails, React, PostgreSQL (SQL), Redis 

 
Key Responsibilities 

  • Software Development: Define and refine design requirements, develop and document technical designs and processes with minimal guidance. 

  • Problem Solving: Investigate software issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions. May mentor junior developers. 

  • Coding & Debugging: Write, document, and debug code. Lead peer reviews and refactoring efforts. 

  • Quality Assurance: Maintain high code quality by adhering to standards and best practices. 

  • Release Management: Support or lead code deployments and validation processes. 

  • Monitoring & Observability: Implement and maintain monitoring and disaster recovery solutions.

Security: Address vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with secure coding policies. 

  • Process Improvement: Identify and contribute to team productivity enhancements. 

  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with teams such as Product Support, QA, and Data Engineering. 

  • Technical Expertise: Apply broad software engineering principles and knowledge of analytics and data engineering. 

  • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to less experienced team members. 

  • Support: Participate in on-call rotations and urgent issue resolution.

    Minimum Qualifications: 

    Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience 

     

    Education: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM field (or equivalent experience) 

     

    Critical Skills: 

    • 4+ years of experience with Ruby, Rails, React, PostgreSQL (SQL), Redis 

    • 4+ years developing web-based applications 

    • 2+ years with manual and automated testing 

    • 2+ years working with version control systems 

    • 2+ years in agile environments 

    • Experience with performance monitoring and observability 

    • Must reside in the Columbus, OH metropolitan area

    Preferred Skills: 

    • Experience with TypeScript, React, and Databricks 

    • Familiarity with microservices and event-driven architecture 

    • Cloud PaaS experience (Azure preferred) 

    • Experience with multi-tiered, data-driven web systems 

    • Proficiency with GitHub and CI/CD pipelines 

    • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance 

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.     $106,900 - $178,100
