The McKesson Investigational Products Center is searching for a Certified Pharmacy Technician for our Irving location that supports filling lab-kit orders and drug orders for clinical trials. The Pharmacy Tech, under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist working within a licensed pharmacy, performs the technical, nonjudgmental aspects of medication and lab kit order preparation, distribution, record keeping and inventory control. Tasks are subject to sequential or final verification by a registered pharmacist. Supports and adheres to McKesson’s Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Shift Details: Monday – Thursday 8:00am – 5:30pm, and rotating Fridays 9am-1pm or 1pm-5pm

Responsibilities:

  • Under pharmacist supervision, prepares investigational products as ordered by physicians or clinical research staff in an accurate and timely manner as per department guidelines, and preparing all within OSHA guidelines and interoffice guidelines in accordance with approved SOPs

  • Checks all orders for completeness of information

  • Maintains current knowledge of study protocols needed for accurately fulfilling orders

  • Maintains accurate accountability records of inventory, orders, shipments and returns, and assists pharmacist with ordering of supplies, inventory and record keeping

  • Maintains current drug information and MSDS sheets

  • Properly disposes all materials used when mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs, and cleans hood and refrigerators and freezers as stated in policy and procedures, if applicable

  • Logs and dates all investigational products that are being used

  • Responsible for reading protocols and lab manuals and setting up internal systems accurately according to manuals and protocols, and keeps accurate logs on all protocol investigational products

  • Generates labels and worksheets necessary for production, preparation and shipment of research products, and properly packages and labels products for subsequent storage and shipping to offices and clinics

  • Maintains proper control documentation of investigational products, including lot numbers, bottle or kit numbers

  • Completes inventory control of investigational products

  • Maintains clean and well-stocked pharmacy production area according to policies and procedures

  • Packing and Shipping IP orders to ship to Investigational sites

  • Uses required knowledge of all Research Pharmacy Technician duties providing the ability to multi-task in varied functions within the CRC

  • Work closely with wholesalers and directly with manufacturers to ensure the uninterrupted provision of supplies.

  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, and typically requires 3+ years of relative experience

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician Registered with Texas State Board of Pharmacy required

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification preferred

  • Previous experience in clinical trials/research setting is preferred

  • Computer proficiency and ability to use computerized pharmacy systems

$19.16 - $31.93
