Job Description

We're looking for an experienced Product Design Manager who will lead a team of world-class designers while establishing the vision for the Shopping Experience across the app and kiosk in collaboration with product owners. In this role, you'll report directly to the Global Director of UX / Product Design and partner closely with Product, Research, Analytics, Engineering, and our Accessibility team to manage delivery of end-to-end detailed designs that make delicious feel-good moments easy for everyone. You'll be responsible for managing a designer for app and a designer for kiosk along with overseeing work executed by agency resources.

We need a self-starter who loves the challenge of a nascent design team within a large corporate organization in the midst of a digital transformation. You thrive coordinating and communicating challenging design decisions across many stakeholders globally. You also bring a strong point-of-view to shaping our products as well as the structure of our growing Product Design team. You're someone who is comfortable managing both an in-person and distributed team; coaching, mentoring and helping the team deliver their best work, drawing from a design ops skillset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of designers, managing capacity and workload, setting clear objectives, and ensuring key deadlines are met
  • Frame problems based on data and customer insights by working closely with product and analytics team members that inform design decisions
  • Partner with product, engineering, research, and business stakeholder counterparts to provide a strong POV and strategy for the UX of the Shopping Experience
  • Work closely with the Design System and Accessibility team to help refine the governance process and ensure consistency across workstreams and products
  • Coordinate and lead design reviews tailored to stakeholders across the organization which includes market leads, business owners, operations, legal, and engineering.
  • Help manage and prioritize QA and design requests across development sprints based on team capacity and priority
  • Coach and mentor in-house product designers and oversee the work of agency designers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Design, Informatics, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Cognitive Science or a related field.
  • 6+ years of in-house product, UI/UX design experience for a retail consumer facing product with a focus on complex flows, use cases, and visual design
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience, including hiring and managing the work of UI/UX or product designers
  • Experience with design ops and process; managing stakeholder feedback and design reviews
  • Experience designing for omnichannel, both native app and kiosk preferred
  • Understanding of prototyping best practices and specific experience using Figma, or Sketch + InVision
  • Experience working with design systems and governance processes
  • Experience, empathy, and understanding for digital accessibility best practices
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Curious, task-oriented, and a self-starter with a strong bias for action; proven track record of "getting things done"
  • Customer-centric mindset with a passion for discovering consumer behavior, trends, and opportunities for innovation
  • Experience with QSR or similar industry
  • Experience with large corporate organizations
