Job Description

McDonald's is taking our business beyond the walls of restaurants - revolutionizing how we interface with our customers. We are providing customers with enticing mobile, web, and kiosk solutions on the scale of industry leading retailers like Amazon and eBay. Technology is critical to our digital strategy - a top priority for McDonald's.

The Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) & Transformation Office are driving excellence across the Global organization and leading initiatives for technology. The Program Manager is responsible for owning and leading a specific initiative or capability ensuring end-to-end alignment of multiple projects (using multiple development methods such as Waterfall, Agile, etc) with the strategic objectives of the organization.

Primary Duties:

  • Manage program change in accordance with the change management plan to control scope, quality, schedule, cost, and contracts
  • Address program issues by identifying and selecting a course of action by taking into account the program constraints and objectives in order to enable continued program progress
  • Motivate the team using appropriate tools and techniques to increase commitment to the program objectives
  • Create and manage execution of the program plans (quality, risk, communication, staffing, etc.) by using the tools identified in the planning phase and by auditing the results of their use to align the program outcomes with partner expectations and standards
  • Develop a high-level achievement plans using goals and objectives of the program, applicable historical information, and other available resources to align program with expectations of sponsors and partners
  • Establish alliances with other departments and organizations by recognizing dependencies to assess potential partnership and commitment to the program
  • Capture program status and data by ensuring the population of the program management information system to maintain accurate and current program information
  • Obtain senior management approval for the program by presenting the program charter with its high-level costs and benefits for the organization to receive authorization to proceed to the next phases
  • Communicate so others will understand, maintain constructive and cooperative relationships with others. Treat people with respect
  • Provides information to others both internal and external to the organization; represents the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources
  • Act as a mentor, leading others with the adoption of EPMO processes and standards
  • Leverage knowledge of and experience with the following
  • Demonstrated track record in partnering with client or business leadership in the development and achievement of strategies to solve the client need, using multiple tools including technology
  • Ability to create presentations and write business cases for leadership audiences
  • Experience with communicating effectively with different levels of internal and external management, leadership while influencing multiple stakeholder groups
  • Familiarity with regulatory and legislative knowledge in multiple service areas
  • Knowledge of data analysis and trend analysis
  • Able to manage multiple priorities concurrently and handle pressure situations effectively and professionally
  • Advanced budgeting/costing knowledge, problem-solving tools and methods, leadership and motivational skills, and experience in contract management and interpretation

Main areas of focus and the approximate time spent on each is as follows:

  • Program Leadership, Planning and Execution for a specific initiative or capability ensuring end-to-end alignment of multiple projects with the strategic objectives of the organization - 25%
  • Stakeholder Management & Communication Planning across the program - 25%
  • Project Change Control and Measure Performance across the program - 25%
  • Project Risk and Issue Management across the program - 20%
  • Adhere to EPMO Standards, Processes and Tools - 5%

Qualifications

  • Must be fully vaccinated (i.e., at least 2 weeks after last dose) for COVID-19 and, if hired, present proof of vaccination by start date.
  • 8+ years of experience required: prior corporate and global project management experience required with 8+ years managing projects (agile and waterfall) and 5+ years leading people
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required: Project Management Professional (PMP) strongly recommended but not required; Agile Certifications strongly recommended (e.g. PSM, CSM, etc.) or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Understanding of cloud platforms - AWS or Azure
  • Applies professional principles and business judgment to solve unique problems or to develop new procedures, process and products
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of standard methodologies in the industry
  • Educate as a Deep Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Project Management process and tools and works to propagate knowledge across teams
  • Coach client team(s) on effective consulting for projects
  • Experience with software methodology development processes
  • Ability to create presentations and write business cases for executive leaders
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines managing multiple priorities
  • Project budgeting/costing knowledge
  • Proficiency with MS Office and common Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) software
  • Strong understanding of a variety of technology solutions
  • Advanced experience with dev/ops principles
  • Conveys an agile approach
  • Delivers business results by championing agile standard methodologies
