Job Description

The Opportunity
In this exciting opportunity you will be accountable for the smooth and frequent deployment of our global
digital platforms (App, MicroServices, Offer Platform, Loyalty etc...). You will be deploying the latest and
greatest releases to ensure restaurant and platform stability.
What will my accountabilities be?
• Accountable for the frequent deployment of global digital platform releases into our restaurants,
working closely with the global release manager and global digital product/platform owners to
understand what releases will be available when and ensuring that all new software deployments
are planned and sequenced to minimise restaurant disruption.
• Work closely with our segment and Global colleagues re latest status and content of planned
releases.
• Attend relevant multi-functional team meetings and input as required. Contribute and challenge
the wider team on their thinking.
• Works with other market teams and segment on highlighting common issues and learning from
best deployment practices.
• Accountable for deployment readiness; ensuring restaurants &/or our partners complete the
checks which need to be performed ahead of any deployment and for ensuring these have been
completed.
• Accountable for leading change towards a continuous deployment model for our digital
platforms, including the ability to deploy 'dark' and resolve incidents/problems quickly and
efficiently.
• Work with the Deployment Analyst on the readiness and planning of each deployment to ensure
minimal downtime and maximum stability on each release.
• Work closely with the asset & configuration team to ensure that restaurants are appropriately
configured for any new software deployments.
• Accountable for communication with restaurants about the status and timing of planned
deployments.
• Accountable for reporting on deployment success and tracking stability, working with the service
team on incident numbers.
• Accountable for stability of deployments working closely with the global product owners and
quality team on ensuring correct level of quality is achieved ahead of deployment commencing.
• Works with the environment officer on risk management around deployment activity. Test
environment, to seed restaurants, to pilot, to national deployment.
What Team will I be a part?
You will work as part of the Deployment & Testing team which forms part of the wider Technology team
for the UK&I and Global business. We are a high energy team, looking for an individual who can add their
talent and personality to make us even better.
Who are my customers?
Customers of this role will include:
• Our Franchisees and restaurant teams
• Global Technology colleagues in other McDonald's markets and those working in global and
segment functions.
• Our supplier partners
• Work closely with Asset & Configuration team to ensure restaurants' are configured correctly pre-deployment.
• Work closely with Innovation and Adoption team to ensure deployment knowledge is transferred
and restaurants are ready to adopt the change as well as any new backlog items which must be
prioritised for deployment

Qualifications

What background do I need to have?
An individual who understands the importance of building relationships across the business, with excellent
curiosity, communication and influencing skills will do well in this role. An attention to detail, an analytical
approach, and the ability to quickly identify the root cause of issues will be critical to success in the role.
An individual fulfilling this role will be passionate about and demonstrate success in:
• Previous deployment experience required with a sound understanding of software deployment
and the software lifecycle - especially around digital products (Apps, Microservices etc...)
• Proven success record in achieving regular stable digital releases of software
• Strong communication skills - written, verbal and presentation
• Experience in project management and agile ways of working
• Excellent collaboration and coaching ability with own team and wider business.
• Computer Literate - Sophisticated Excel, Word PowerPoint, Jira & Confluence desired.
• Comfort and experience working in a fast paced and changing working environment
• Experience in identifying and using external best practice to deliver best in class digital
deployment solutions
• Excellent problem-solving skills and curiosity to explore new ways of working.
• Display leadership behaviours and characteristics and a desire to develop self and your team
• Experience and an ability to think outside of the box to tackle problems supporting a more frequent
and smoother deployment process
• Seeking opportunities for continual improvement.
• Strong presence and influence and ability to operate effectively at senior levels of the business.
