Job Description
The Opportunity:
Mattel is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Lead Graphic Designer to join its Portfolio Wheels product design team. The group is focused on creating new product opportunities for die-cast vehicles, track sets, play sets, and large-scale vehicles across several vehicle brands. This designer will play a pivotal role in creating vehicle liveries, product graphics, and defining the design language and visual identity for our brand. The ideal candidate will possess proven product or graphic design experience showing the ability to work on challenging and fun products as well as ideating new concepts.
What Your Impact Will Be:
- Actively generate new graphics, illustrations, and concepts to enhance die-cast vehicles, track sets, play sets and accessories
- Successfully communicate and present concepts to management and internal partners
- Manage and keep track of a large number of die-cast products and deadlines
- Partner with Marketing, Development, Packaging, and Cost Engineering to ensure product integrity and product objectives.
- Daily communication with our Mattel Asia Design and Development partners.
- Manage and art direct outside vendors
- Champion the brand identity- keep internal and external partners on-brand
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
- 6+ years of graphic or product design experience
- Toy/ Graphic/ Transportation Design degree or related product design experience/education.
- Experience with product graphics, vehicles, play set designs.
- Ideal candidate will exhibit interest and knowledge of the current auto and graphic trends.
- Must be proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, or other sketching/ideation programs.
- Understanding of 3D CAD a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Adobe Creative Suite proficiency.
- Knowledge of material and manufacturing process for toy development.
- Ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment while juggling several projects at once.
- Portfolio demonstrating strong design excellence and superior problem solving.
- A love of toys, vehicles is a plus!
- Personal Attributes Required: Creative, Positive, Self-Motivated, Passionate about design, Efficient, Proactive, Organized, Professional Maturity.
