Overview
The Open Banking Engineering team are seeking a visionary SVP Software Engineering to lead the various teams responsible for the design, build, and implementation our Open Banking platform across European markets, including Mastercard's regulated business in Denmark, MCOBS EU. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in realising Mastercard's ambition to unleash the power of Open Banking globally. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in application design & development and deployment into cloud, with a proven track record of delivering large-scale, enterprise-grade solutions. We're looking for an exceptional technologist and people leader who can partner with multiple stakeholders to deliver best-in-class Open Banking enabling technology.
Key Responsibilities
• Team Leadership & Development
oLead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers, architects, and managers.
oFoster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
oIt is expected that the successful candidate will spend part of his/her time in Denmark.
• Platform Architecture & Design
oOversee the design, development, and implementation of scalable and secure software solutions.
oCollaborate with Product Management to define product roadmaps and ensure timely delivery.
oEstablish and maintain high-quality software engineering standards, including coding, testing, and deployment processes.
• Infrastructure & Cloud
oDevelop robust, cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS to ensure scalability and fault tolerance.
oEnsure optimal cloud architecture to support high availability, disaster recovery, and cost efficiency.
oEnsure adoption of automation and DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• Application Development
oOversee the development of APIs and interfaces in alignment with Open Banking standards (e.g., PSD2, Open Banking UK).
oEnsure the platform supports multi-tenancy, high throughput, and low latency for seamless user experiences.
oImplement robust security mechanisms, including OAuth2 and incorporation of various enterprise standards.
• Technical Leadership
oCollaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Infra & Ops, Delivery and Security to ensure strong end-to-end delivery.
oProvide mentorship and technical guidance to engineering teams to uphold best practices in software engineering.
oPerform code and design reviews to maintain technical excellence.
• Regulatory & Compliance Alignment
oEnsure platform design adheres to data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR) and various Open Banking and regulatory standards.
oEmbed compliance with regulatory frameworks into decision-making.
About You
• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience:
o10+ years in software architecture and development, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
oProven experience architecting large-scale, distributed platforms with high performance and resilience.
oHands-on expertise with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Skills:
oExtensive background and experience in coding.
oImplementation of architectural styles (microservices, serverless, event-driven systems).
oBuilding secure solutions.
oAbility to design simple, intuitive and extensible APIs.
oExpertise in database technologies and caching strategies.

• Preferred Qualifications
oCertification in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect).
oExperience working and leading in a financially regulated environment (fintech or banking) is preferred.
oFamiliarity with ISO 20022 and payment systems integration.
