Title and Summary
Senior Platform Architect
Overview:
Does building exciting platforms that will enable our customers across the world with faster, smarter and more effective solutions excite you? We are looking for a Platforms Architect that will work with our teams around the world to improve system reliability, improve operations and build strong partnerships with key stakeholder teams to own, monitor and maintain our services and infrastructure.
The Distributed Platforms team is responsible for the deployment, configuration, maintenance, backup and support of multiple on-premise and cloud hosted data centers. In this role, you will help lead key business projects, adapting and architecting our infrastructure to support on-premise deployments of our product. Our engineers have the opportunity to build a long-term and exciting career in a dynamic technology oriented and rapidly growing organization.
Role:
- You'll be responsible for the installation, administration, and lifecycle management of Windows and Red Hat Linux servers
- You take part in on-call as part of our 'you build it, you run it' philosophy. This includes improving operations, such as by adding metrics or building dashboards
- Develop strong partnerships with product teams to understand and proactively address future technology needs and current developer pain points
- Own, monitor, and maintain our development teams' backend services and infrastructure
- Participate in incident response, diagnosis, and follow-up on system outages or alerts across our infrastructure
All About You:
- Previous experience maintaining and configuring infrastructure as a System, Platform or DevOps Engineer
- Experience with Linux and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef or Terraform
- Experience automating tasks using scripting languages such as Bash, Python or Powershell
- Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work with teammates across a worldwide distributed team
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Ability to install, configure, and manage software lifecycle tools such as Red Hat Satellite or Spacewalk
- Understanding of system deployment and configuration management using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Chef or SCCM
- Familiarity with monitoring technologies such as Splunk or PRTG
- The ideal candidate will have significant experience maintaining operational excellence in a fast-paced environment consisting of a diverse slate of technologies, such as VMware, MSSQL or Azure
