We engage with policymakers, trade associations, and third-party voices to advocate for smart legislation, advance our brand, and support the company's business objectives.

We are seeking a Manager, U.S. Government Affairs to support our advocacy efforts and political operations. This is a dynamic role that blends policy, communications, stakeholder engagement, and project management. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, politically curious, and comfortable working across teams to help shape Mastercard's voice in the United States.

The Role
• Support the development and execution of advocacy campaigns and political engagement strategies.
• Develop and execute PAC engagement strategies to enhance employee participation, deliver value to contributing employees, and grow receipts and membership.
• Coordinate and execute high-impact events, including political fundraisers, thought leadership forums, and policymaker engagements across the U.S.
• Manage logistics for political events and meetings, including pre-event scheduling and vendor management to post-event follow-up.
• Support the company's Political Action Committee (PAC), including compliance tracking, communications, event coordination, and stakeholder outreach.
• Enhance political disclosure reporting through streamlined data-tracking methodologies, ensuring timely corporate disclosures, and accurate responses to benchmarks such as the CPA-Zicklin index.
• Create and execute political compliance training programs and best practices with legal teams and external counsel to ensure regulatory adherence and effective stakeholder engagement.
• Conduct policy research and develop briefing materials that distill complex issues into clear, actionable summaries for policy messaging, political briefings, and internal updates to senior leaders.
• Track legislation, committee activity, and key developments relevant to Mastercard's policy priorities.
• Partner with internal Government Affairs & Policy colleagues, specifically the Office of Government Engagement, to craft messaging and ensure timely delivery of advocacy materials.
• Drive strategic initiatives forward by developing project plans and managing internal timelines, workstreams, and tracking systems to ensure on-time execution and follow-through.
• Maintain internal databases and systems for tracking legislative activity, stakeholder engagement, and policy development relevant to Mastercard's priority issues.
• Support the U.S. Government Affairs team in building and maintaining strong relationships with congressional offices, internal stakeholders, industry associations, and third-party partners.

• Strong writing and communication skills, with a clear and persuasive style.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage logistics in fast-paced environments.
• Event planning and project management experience, with a track record of managing complex logistics high-profile gatherings.
• Politically astute and intellectually curious, with a working knowledge of the U.S. federal government and legislative process.
• Self-starter who is organized, dependable, and able to juggle multiple priorities with composure, follow-through, and accountability.
• Comfortable navigating cross-functional teams and engaging with senior stakeholders.
• Flexible and resourceful problem solver who can quickly adapt to evolving priorities or unexpected challenges, be proactive, and maintain a can-do attitude.
• Collaborative team player who brings energy, professionalism, and a proactive mindset to the workplace.
• Familiarity with PAC operations and compliance, political giving, or campaign finance is preferred.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance), flexible spending account and health savings account, paid leaves (including 16 weeks new parent leave, up to 20 paid days bereavement leave), 10 annual paid sick days, 10 or more annual paid vacation days based on level, 5 personal days, 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays, 401k with a best-in-class company match, deferred compensation for eligible roles, fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities, eligibility for tuition reimbursement, gender-inclusive benefits and many more.
