Senior Technical Product Manager

5 days ago London, United Kingdom

About Us

MarketAxess is on a journey to digitally transform one of the world’s largest financial markets, enabling the shift from analog, phone-based trading to a fully electronic marketplace. Why does this matter? Because our platform makes trading fixed-income more accessible, ultimately improving transparency, efficiency, and competition in the marketplace. Changing the way an established industry transacts is no easy feat. There will be twists and turns, because no one’s ever done this before. But now, more than 2,000 clients around the world rely on our solutions, and that number is only expected to grow in the years ahead. We know where we’re going. How we get there is up to us. Join us and help Take Us There.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Technical Product Manager (TPM) to join our software engineering team who will play a key role in the successful delivery of software across our next generation trading platform. This role differs from traditional Product roles in that it reports into the Technology organization rather than the Product team and focuses on technical delivery and execution, software quality, and release coordination.

As a Senior TPM, you are a critical bridge between Engineering and the central Product team, translating business objectives into technically actionable requirements while ensuring delivery is both timely and of high quality. This role requires someone with a strong technical background, familiarity with Agile delivery and release management, and a solid understanding of software testing practices. It’s important to understand software architecture so you can represent Product and Engineering in cross functional conversations.

You should embrace the benefits of moving quickly and enjoy teaming up with engineers to solve hard problems. You are a harmonizer who can drive alignment across functions. You thrive when given the chance to help design systems and processes that facilitate efficient collaboration and execution.

We embrace a culture of collaboration and experimentation while striving to encourage all team members to focus on continuous improvement and learning. We openly welcome diverse perspectives and people who are not afraid to challenge assumptions and prior ways of working. Otherwise, how do we innovate, learn, and grow as a team and individuals?

How You’ll Help Take Us There

  • Be a strategic partner to senior engineering and product leadership with ability to be a strong influencer with credibility with peers and stakeholders, capable of building productive, trusting relationships
  • Collaborate with the Product team to understand business requirements and convert them into well-defined technical deliverables
  • Help to facilitate Agile ceremonies (e.g. stand-ups, planning, retrospectives) and supporting backlog refinement
  • Partner with Engineering and QA to ensure robust software quality through clear acceptance criteria, thorough testing plans (unit, integration, regression, and UAT), and early involvement in defect triage
  • Coordinate and own release planning, ensuring appropriate change controls, stakeholder communication, and cutover readiness
  • Conduct risk assessments and impact analyses for all new features and technical changes before Production deployment, with an emphasis on stability, support readiness, and user impact
  • Help teams to maintain organized backlogs and documentation using Jira and Confluence, ensuring traceability from business objective to tested feature
  • Proactively identify delivery risks, remove blockers, and escalate issues as needed to keep execution on track
  • Dig into data: defining metrics and KPIs based on product goals, owning Product usage reporting via dashboards and data visualizations
  • Collaborate with Software Engineering and DevOps to validate deployment plans and post-release verification steps

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of software engineering, systems engineering, hardware engineering, or technical product management experience within a technology-led organization
  • Strong technical understanding of modern software development practices (APIs, cloud, CI/CD, monitoring, etc.)
  • Experience in financial services, ideally within e-trading, capital markets, or market data platforms
  • Proven experience working closely with QA teams to define test strategies, triage issues, and ensure delivery quality
  • Hands-on experience facilitating Agile/Scrum processes and managing delivery via Jira, Confluence, and related tools
  • Exposure to release readiness processes in globally distributed teams
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines
  • Ability to collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and engineering leads to turn user needs into platform capabilities, and experience using OKRs or similar frameworks to measure success.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate architectural decisions and influence stakeholders across technical and non-technical domains.
  • A track record of practical, hands-on leadership and problem solving, with a bias toward action and a mindset rooted in experimentation and continuous learning.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment with change management controls
  • Bachelor of Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.

Nice to Have:

Familiarity with FIX protocol, order/execution management systems, or real-time streaming platforms
