We are seeking an Analytics and Data Science Specialist to join our global team based in the Macquarie Capital New York office.

We are seeking an Analytics and Data Science Specialist to join our global team based in the Macquarie Capital New York office. As part of the broader Analytics Solutions and Insights team, we are looking to extend our capabilities into Data Science and AI in order to explore new uses cases and advanced techniques to compliment foundational analytics tools built for the investment bank, markets and supporting teams. You will have the opportunity to lead, develop, and deliver on these initiatives end-to end, which includes stakeholder and project management.

Our analytics assets vary from descriptive business intelligence for management reporting to prescriptive quantitative models for market opportunities typically delivered in the form of interactive dashboards. The role will give you the opportunity to work with an established global technical team and framework where you will work collaboratively to enable new outcomes from advanced practices for a variety of business teams. As such, you will need to be able to communicate the magic behind your solutions in both a technical and non-technical way. You will need to be business focused and enjoy building rapport with a wide range of stakeholders from across the organisation.

About You

You will bring with you, a prior education in Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Maths, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, or another relevant quantitative discipline. You will ideally have experience working in a data science capability within financial markets with a working understanding of statistics, machine learning models and hands-on expertise with data wrangling and automation in and out of cloud-based data platforms.

Although this role is based in New York, the head office located in Sydney, that may lead to mutually flexible arrangements during projects and initiatives interacting with Europe and Australia.

      • Minimum Bachelor's degree qualification in a quantitative and problem-solving discipline with strong academic performance
      • Minimum 5+ years' experience within an analytical function and data visualisation experience
      • Experience in individually leading data analytics projects / developments and managing stakeholders
      • Tools on the job are Python, Presto, Alteryx DataIku and PowerBI. Experience in two or more of the following domains will be considered
    • Data visualisation tools such as Tableau or PowerBI
    • Data analysis tools such as Presto or Alteryx;
    • Object Oriented scripting languages such as R or Python
    • Data infrastructures and technologies like SAS, SQL, Hive, Presto, Pig or Spark, AWS Redshift
      • Experience with scheduling and data automation.
      • Solid analytical, problem solving background, working with transactional level data & large datasets
      • Ability to work efficiently and effectively with senior stakeholders within a matrix environment
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to effectively tailor communications to a diverse range of business and technical stakeholder groups
      • Availability to work flexible hours to cater for interactions with stakeholders in different time zones
      • Well organised, self-starter who can manage a range of competing priorities and projects
      • Creates, manages, and monitors detailed project plans which may include scope, responsibilities, timeframes and/or budget
      • Develop and implements contingency plan

Implements quality assurance practices to ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness of output
