Global Trade Compliance Manager

Our ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of global trade regulations, customs procedures, and risk management in North America, APAC, EMEA, & the LATAM regions and will lead our efforts to optimize supply chain efficiency while minimizing compliance risks and help our fast-growing IOT/ video telematics company expand globally and save lives on the roadways around the world!

What you'll get to do:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive global trade compliance program, ensuring adherence to international trade regulations, sanctions, and export controls.
  • Establish, Implement, and maintain corporate program for compliance with export-related trade functions, monitoring, trade compliance, accurate record keeping, auditing, export declarations, reporting.
  • Work with relevant government agencies, customs authorities, and other regulatory bodies in connection with cross-border trade.
  • Stay up to date with changes in international trade regulations and assess their impact on the company's operations and alert appropriate parties on business impacts.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve trade compliance processes, procedures, identify areas of improvement and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, tax, logistics, procurement, and product management to ensure alignment of trade compliance efforts.
  • Lead and resolve compliance-related issues, investigations, and reporting in coordination with the legal team. i.e. export-control related elements, export jurisdiction, and classification, export authorization (license) tracking, technology transfers, Embargo Country, and Restricted Party List screening.
  • Develop and communicate mitigation plans for potential risks identified by regional level personnel.
  • Establish export control jurisdiction and classification critical issue procedures i.e. define "high risk" materials for increased oversight.
  • Maintain U.S. Department of State ITAR Registration requirements and serve as U.S. Empowered Official.
  • Participate in periodic Global Trade planning sessions.
  • Conduct Global Trade personnel performance review.
  • Lead aspects of enterprise-wide training program, coordinate with Regional and Local leads to identify training needs.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in international business, Supply Chain Management, Legal Studies. preferred.
  • 8+ years of proven experience in global trade compliance, customs, or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, sanctions, and export controls, with a proven track record of successful compliance management.
  • Internal (International) and external (government agency) experience.
  • Detailed understanding of governmental regulations, internal policies and procedures, and global trade operations
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to empower and guide a global and culturally diverse team and develop successful internal and external relationships.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to partner with internal and external employees at all levels.
  • Strong negotiation skills working with regulatory officials and divisional/site management (domestic and international).
  • Analytical approach with the ability to identify and mitigate compliance risks reliably.
  • Proficiency in trade compliance software and tools
Preferred:
  • Experience with telematics equipment/electronics.
  • U.S. Licensed Customs Broker
  • Professional certifications in trade compliance (e.g., Certified Global Sanctions Specialist, Certified Customs Specialist)

Salary is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is also eligible for an incentive compensation plan. The expected hiring salary for this position is:
$126,500.00 - $159,500.00
