In this hands-on Packaging Engineering Internship, you'll play a key role in evaluating and enhancing packaging designs that protect products, reduce waste, and optimize logistics. You'll support engineering initiatives that focus on packaging compliance, sustainability, cost-efficiency, and performance testing. Do Your Best Work in Mooresville
This internship is based at our headquarters in Mooresville, North Carolina. Our corporate office is a space where you can collaborate and do your best work. Take a walk, grab a bite (or a cup of coffee), work out or get a check-up - we invest in you so you can find your inspiration.
What You Will Learn
- Assist in the evaluation and design of packaging for Lowe's private brands, including structural performance, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
- Conduct packaging performance tests (e.g., ISTA, drop, vibration) and analyze test data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support efforts to standardize packaging across categories and reduce damage rates during shipping and handling.
- Collaborate with vendors and cross-functional teams on packaging specifications and compliance requirements.
- Learn about global packaging regulations and sustainability initiatives impacting retail.
- Help track packaging metrics and contribute to packaging database updates.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in packaging science, packaging engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field.
- Expected graduation dates of December 2026 or May 2027.
Preferred Skills/Experience
- 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher.
- Proficient in MS Office Programs (specifically Word, Excel, and Power Point).
- Familiarity with packaging testing methods (e.g., ISTA protocols) is a plus
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with CAD software or packaging design tools is preferred
- Relevant internship, co-op, or lab experience is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
