The Mgr-Store Optimization serves as the strategic lead for store optimization, merchandising execution and customer-centric optimization across a designated business area. This role is accountable
for overseeing a comprehensive portfolio of initiatives that drive productivity, enhance in-store product presentation, and ensure alignment between localized execution and enterprise-wide merchandising and financial strategies.
Reporting to Store Optimization leadership, the Mgr-Store Optimization collaborates directly with cross-functional leaders in Merchandising, Visual, Planogram, Project Management, Finance, and Assortment Planning to develop and drive space optimization strategies that maximize selling potential and elevate the customer experience. By leveraging store insights, performance data, and
operational feedback, this role delivers recommendations that support localization, category growth, and divisional financial targets.
In addition to shaping area-wide optimization strategies, the Manager leads roadmap development, guides initiative prioritization, and regularly presents strategic plans and performance updates to
executive stakeholders. This role also directly manages a team of Planners-Store Optimization, driving best practices, coaching for growth, and establishing scalable processes and tools that deliver
consistent, high-impact results across divisions. Through visionary leadership and data-driven execution, the Mgr-Store Optimization plays a pivotal role in elevating in-store experiences and achieving
enterprise success.
What You Will Do
• Lead the development and execution of enterprise-aligned store optimization strategies across a defined business area. Drive initiatives that elevate space productivity, category performance, and
customer navigation across all relevant store formats and regional clusters.
• Oversee the full portfolio of optimization initiatives across the business area, including strategic prioritization, resource planning, workload balancing, and milestone tracking. Ensure all efforts deliver measurable financial and operational impact while supporting broader enterprise goals.
• Leverage cross-divisional store insights and performance metrics to uncover optimization opportunities in space allocation, category adjacencies, and fixture deployment that improve product visibility and customer experience across multiple divisions.

• Lead complex, category-spanning performance analyses to inform targeted optimization strategies that balance shopper behavior, merchandising intent, and business outcomes. Ensure learnings are
applied across divisions to support holistic area-level success.
• Guide the creation of area-wide optimization strategies, synthesizing data across merchandising divisions to develop scalable models. Oversee trait-based clustering, utilization reviews, and macro-level planning recommendations that maximize enterprise value.
• Direct the development of store-specific merchandising optimization plans across multiple merchandising divisions, ensuring that financial targets, localized customer needs, and operational constraints are incorporated into a unified optimization framework.
• Collaborate with senior leaders and cross-functional executives across Merchandising, Planogram, Visual, Finance, and Store Operations to ensure alignment, execution excellence, and seamless
integration of space strategies into broader business plans.
• Present strategic plans, optimization roadmaps, and initiative performance outcomes to senior leadership, using compelling data storytelling to influence prioritization, investment, and long-term space planning decisions.
• Oversee the creation of scalable, data-driven optimization models tailored to regional variations, store formats, and customer behaviors, ensuring high-impact, localized execution across a diverse store network.
• Manage and develop a team of Senior Store Optimization Planners and Store Optimization Planners, providing strategic direction, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure consistency, scalability, and innovation in project execution.
• Lead continuous improvement across optimization processes, tools, and methodologies, driving greater speed, agility, and cross-team collaboration. Champion standardization where appropriate and
innovation where differentiation drives results.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Retail Management, Finance or related field or equivalent work experience
• 8-10 Years Experience in retail store environment (may be a combination of merchandising, visual merchandising, assortment planning or planogram experiences).
• 8-10 Years Working in Retail Environment
• 8-10 Years Experience executing on project plans in a cross-functional environment
• 8-10 Years Strong Business Acumen with an understanding of how store and space optimization can influence results of various functions across the organization
• 5-7 Years Experience with assortment and/or space planning (e.g. categories, products, processes, etc.)
• 5-7 Years Retail Space Store Clustering
• 1-2 Years Mentoring, training, or onboarding team members in a retail or corporate environment
Preferred Skills/Education
• 5-7 Years Experience working for a large retail organization, preferably in Merchandising, Store Planning, or Store Operations
