Indirect Tax Accountant

Your Impact:

The primary purpose of Indirect Tax Accountant will be the preparation of Indirect Tax Returns for Lowe's Companies, Inc and Subsidiaries, primarily related to state and local sales, and use tax as well as environmental fees. Secondary responsibilities will include the preparation of sales tax licenses, unclaimed property reporting, general ledger account reconciliations, indirect tax research and answer tax related questions from stores and vendors.

What You Will Do:

  • Preparation and remittance of all of sales and use tax returns and environmental fees along with all associated payments by the statutory due dates.
  • Preparation of Business Licenses for New and Renewing Business activities

  • Prepare and evaluate data and/or reports for return and/or license preparation
  • Research various financial activities to identify issues, explain findings to principal accountants, managers, and directors to determine resolution
  • Ability to analyze large volumes of data
  • Attention to detail
  • Maintain appropriate supporting documents, provisions, and other details for returns, payments, accounting transactions and entries for future audit purposes.
  • Communicate effectively within the team, across other functions, and with external parties to ensure alignment
  • Work with applications to handle large amounts of data and analyze and review prior to return preparation.
  • Review job procedures consistently to identify potential improvements that will increase the accuracy and efficiency of all assigned tasks
  • Perform analysis (i.e. historical, forecasting, impact, etc.) and reconciliations to support monthly, quarterly, or annual closing cycles according to prescribed rates, laws, and regulations, with review from senior roles where needed
  • Performs data retrieval and analysis to prepare account reconciliations and process data to prepare for the next period filing.
  • Provide excellent customer service via phone and email relating to sales and use tax matters for stores and other locations when necessary.
  • Collaborate on special projects and resolution of non-reoccurring complex issues within the respective area to deliver optimal solutions to financial issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in accounting or related field
  • Experience with Microsoft office programs (Excel, Word, Access)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sales and use tax return experience
  • Alteryx experience

Pay Range: $59,800.00 - $99,900.00 annually Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
