Your Impact

As a Government Affairs Intern at Lowe's, you'll gain exposure to how a FORTUNE® 100 company engages with policymakers, trade associations, and regulatory agencies. You'll work with the Government Affairs team to track legislative and regulatory issues, support advocacy strategies, and contribute to policy analysis that helps shape Lowe's business environment. From researching federal and state issues to preparing briefing materials, you'll build skills in policy research, communications, and stakeholder engagement while contributing to meaningful projects.

Summer Internship Program

Whether you're starting your professional journey or pivoting to a new field, Lowe's offers the resources and opportunities you need to thrive. Our 10-week summer internship program (May 26th - July 31st) immerses you in real-world retail operations. You'll work directly with industry experts across our stores, distribution centers, and corporate offices, gaining practical experience through hands-on projects that make meaningful contributions to our business and communities.

Do Your Best Work in Mooresville

This internship is based at our headquarters in Mooresville, North Carolina. Our corporate office is a space where you can collaborate and do your best work. Take a walk, grab a bite (or a cup of coffee), work out or get a check-up - we invest in you so you can find your inspiration.

What You Will Learn

  • Track and analyze federal and state legislative and regulatory issues affecting retail and business operations.
  • Conduct research and prepare briefing materials on policy issues for internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in drafting communications, position papers, and advocacy materials.
  • Support the planning and coordination of government affairs events and meetings.
  • Gain exposure to corporate engagement with trade associations and industry coalitions.
  • Observe how the Government Affairs team partners with business leaders to align policy strategies with company objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in political science, public policy, business, economics, or related field.
  • Expected graduation dates of December 2026 or May 2027.

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Proficient in MS Office programs (specifically in Power Point, Excel and data analysis tools).
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational and communication skills.
