The Lowe's Legal Department serves as an innovative, proactive and strategic business partner focused on accelerating profitable growth while protecting the Lowe's brand. The Assistant General Counsel (AGC) strategically manages Legal Practice Groups within the Department and ensure talent and resources within the practice group deliver high quality legal and compliance services to the Company. This role oversees a functional legal team and delegates work assignments to team members.
The Assistant General Counsel provides legal consultation on enterprise-wide and strategic initiatives and influences senior executives to build alignment on the company's strategic priorities. The Assistant General Counsel is a subject matter expert in at least one area of law or have mid-level understanding of three or more areas of law or lines of business.

What You Will Do
- Lead enterprise-wide regulatory compliance initiatives, including horizon scanning, regulatory change management, and compliance framework enhancement.
- Advise on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations, oversee packaging compliance reporting, and support sustainability regulatory engagement.
- Provide legal oversight and strategic guidance on hazardous materials (HazMat) management, including RCRA, DOT, EPA, and state DEQ enforcement matters.
- Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure compliance with product safety laws and chemical reporting obligations (e.g., PFAS), and advise on selling restrictions and recalls.
- Manage legal strategy and defense in response to regulatory inquiries, investigations, and enforcement actions across environmental and consumer product agencies.
- Support Marketplace growth by advising on regulatory and trust & safety compliance issues.
- Establish cross-functional compliance roles and responsibilities across Legal, Compliance, and Business teams to promote accountability.
- Provide legal guidance on international and domestic trade compliance, including import regulations and enforcement risk mitigation.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Other Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited school and 12-15 years practicing law in a law firm or in-house legal department
- 5-7 Years Direct experience in commercial and consumer litigation or retail transactions, or a combination of experience in those two areas
- 5-7 Years Working closely with senior leadership (VP and above)
- 3-5 Years Regulatory experience and resolving conflict and negotiating resolutions with federal, state and local agencies
- License to practice law in at least one state (or foreign jurisdiction, if lawyer is providing services to Company affiliates in that jurisdiction)
- Experience in legal leadership roles within relatively large corporate entities
- Experience managing issues encountered by a multi-national retailer
- Leadership experience (Director and above) managing attorneys and professionals
- License to practice law in at least one state (or foreign jurisdiction, if lawyer is providing services to Company affiliates in that jurisdiction).
