Analyst-Litigation
Your Impact
The primary purpose of this role is to manage moderately complex litigation matters for the Legal department, focusing on cases that require advanced judgment, deeper analysis, and coordination across multiple business functions. The Litigation Specialist is responsible for handling moderately complex litigation matters from pre-suit through resolution under the direction and supervision of
in-house counsel. This includes conducting investigations, evaluating liability and damages, setting reserves, and partnering with outside counsel to execute litigation strategies.
What You Will Do
• Conduct thorough investigations of litigation and claims by interviewing associates, store leadership, claimants and witnesses, reviewing video and documentation, and preserving evidence
• Under the direction of in-house counsel, manages moderately complex litigated matters, including coordination with outside counsel, developing case strategy, review pleadings, assessing liability and exposure, and setting reserves
• Establish and adjusts reserves using sound judgment, analysis of claim exposure, and Company guidelines; authorizes payments within scope of authority
• Coordinate claim defense efforts by collaborating with Store Operations, Asset Protection & Safety, and external vendors to ensure consistency, accuracy, and timely resolution
• Develop and delivers training and lessons learned to internal business partners, focusing on litigation trends, best practices, and legal process awareness
• Ensure litigated matters are handled in compliance with legal requirements, internal policies, and service standards while preserving the Company's reputation and brand integrity
• Provide open feedback and mentorship to team members to encourage growth and greater responsibility.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree Business Administration legal studies or relate studies 3+ years of experience in claims management and litigation or equivalent work experience
• 3+ years of experience in risk, claim management, and litigation, including responsibility for managing litigation files and conducting investigations
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and manage ligation matters, including evaluating claims exposure, setting reserves, assessing risk, and developing resolution strategies
• Proven ability to manage a high-volume docket of litigation matters through all phases, including demand letters, pleadings and settlement
