Summary




Lincoln Electric is seeking a Controls Engineer for our Orville, OH manufacturing and assembly facility. The Controls Engineer will provide comprehensive engineering support for the design, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and training of Weld Fume Extraction systems, including Plug-and-Play and Custom Tailored Assemblies (CTA). This role will involve both on-site customer support and in-house technical responsibilities at company facilities.

What You Will Do


 



  • Lead and support new product development initiatives, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budget.

  • Own assigned tasks from concept through execution to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Design and develop control systems including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, motion control, and industrial network communication for new and existing equipment in the field.

  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), control schematics, and documentation packages.

  • Provide technical support for installed systems, including troubleshooting and performance optimization.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying and implementing engineering and process enhancements.

  • Travel as required to support field installations, troubleshooting, and customer training: up to 25%

  • Develop PCB circuit designs and embedded microcontroller code.

  • Support the company’s strategic initiatives, including the 2025 growth strategy, by assuming additional responsibilities as needed.






Required Education and Experience




  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent; or Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science; or equivalent with experience will be considered.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in HMI and PLC programming and design (Eaton EasySoft, Galileo, and Codesys preferred).

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and CAD software for electrical design (AutoCAD Electrical preferred).

  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and work both independently and within a team environment.

  • General knowledge related to industry safety design standards, including UL508, and best practices.

  • Experience with industrial networking and communication protocols.

  • PCB circuit design and microcontroller code development, Microchip experience preferred.

  • Selected candidate’s Job Level and Pay Grade will be determined based upon qualifications and experience.
