LCE focuses on three primary strategies: providing top-tier professional development opportunities that elevate the teaching practice for educators and teaching artists; convening and collaborating with our fellow resident arts organizations; and serving New York City and its Department of Education through arts engagement and learning. The Vice President who leads the next chapter for Lincoln Center Education will be guided by these strategies that underpin a clear commitment to the arts for all.

Position Overview

This is a rare opportunity for a visionary leader to shape the next era of arts education at one of the world's most iconic cultural institutions. The Vice President, Education will lead Lincoln Center Education with strategic clarity and programmatic excellence - honoring its pioneering legacy while advancing new models of learning that prioritize innovation, access, and civic impact.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, the VP will articulate and activate a dynamic vision that aligns with Lincoln Center's campus-wide priorities: inviting expanded audiences, leveraging technology for greater reach, deepening local investment to remain a global capital for the performing arts, and increasing audience development and access.

This position will serve as a bold advocate for the arts in civic life, education systems, and public discourse - working across sectors and geographies to position Lincoln Center as a national and international hub for transformative arts learning. Through deep partnerships with schools, communities, and fellow cultural institutions, the VP will ensure that LCE's work is relevant, expansive, and impactful.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Vision & Institutional Leadership

  • Lead the strategic direction and operational excellence of Lincoln Center Education, ensuring cohesion with Lincoln Center's broader institutional goals.
  • Align LCE's growth with campus-wide priorities, especially around expanding access, embracing digital transformation, and reinforcing NYC's cultural identity on the world stage.
  • Serve as a thought leader in arts education-driving innovation, experimentation, and national/international dialogue.
  • Build strong internal partnerships across departments and with Lincoln Center's resident organizations to foster shared vision and coordinated impact.

Arts Education Vision & Pedagogy

  • Bring deep expertise in arts learning across K-18 and adult populations, with a global and inclusive perspective.
  • Advance LCE's pedagogical approach, emphasizing learner agency, co-creation, and the arts as a tool for civic engagement and social justice.
  • Lead curricular innovation that reflects the cultural diversity of NYC and connects local learning to global exchange.

Program Oversight & Innovation

  • Ensure excellence across LCE's program portfolio, with a focus on scalability, technological integration, and audience accessibility.
  • Expand digital and hybrid learning models to engage new and underserved communities.
  • In collaboration with the Director, Teaching Artistry Program, foster global networks of educators and teaching artists to promote international collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Partnerships & Advocacy

  • Strengthen relationships with key partners, including the NYC Department of Education, community organizations, cultural peers, and public agencies.
  • Advocate passionately for arts education policy and investment at the city, state, national, and international levels.
  • Collaborate with education leaders across Lincoln Center's constituent organizations to drive shared goals and amplify collective impact.

Team Leadership & Organizational Culture

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse, high-performing team with a culture rooted in creativity, equity, and collaboration.
  • Model inclusive and transparent leadership practices that foster professional growth and shared ownership.
  • Guide the team through growth, change, and innovation with strategic clarity and empathy.

Fundraising & Institutional Advancement

  • Work closely with the EVP, Chief Artistic Officer, and Advancement teams to secure transformational philanthropic support.
  • Serve as a compelling ambassador to donors, foundations, government partners, and corporate sponsors.
  • Shape fundraising strategies that elevate LCE's visibility, impact, and long-term sustainability.

Technology & Future-Focused Strategy

  • Leverage technology to extend reach and deepen engagement, from digital curriculum delivery to global convenings.
  • Champion a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and evaluation to future-proof LCE's educational models.

Global & Civic Engagement

  • Advance LCE's civic mission by expanding its presence across NYC neighborhoods and communities.
  • Position Lincoln Center as a global leader in cultural diplomacy and arts-based learning, forging international partnerships and exchange.
  • Strengthen the role of the arts in addressing civic challenges and fostering global citizenship.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in arts education, cultural leadership, or education innovation.
  • Deep personal commitment to the public value of the arts and a vibrant, equitable cultural sector.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, fundraising, and managing complex educational programs in a mission driven environment.
  • Inclusive, diplomatic, and values-driven leadership style.
  • Academic or professional training in the arts and/or education; background in a specific artistic discipline is a strong plus.
  • Knowledgeable in policy and practice across the educational spectrum, from K-12 to lifelong learning.
  • Compelling communicator and storyteller with the ability to engage diverse audiences-educators, artists, civic leaders, and funders alike.
  • Technologically savvy, with experience using digital tools to enhance access, impact and innovation.
  • Experience in both U.S. and international education contexts, with a strong grounding in cultural equity and access.
  • Ability to work primarily on-site at Lincoln Center and LCE venues in New York City, including some nights and weekends, as well as occasional out-of-town travel.
