Role Overview: The Director, Chief of Staff to the EVP, Chief Communications, Marketing & Advocacy Officer, serves as a trusted advisor and strategic right hand, supporting them in optimizing productivity, communications, workflow, and project prioritization across a complex and high-impact portfolio.

The Chief of Staff ensures the efficient execution of cross-functional priorities, connects information and people across the organization, and enables the team to operate at maximum effectiveness. This role is not responsible for managing departmental workstreams but instead ensures alignment, focus, and seamless collaboration across the six teams. It is ideal for a highly strategic, organized collaborator who thrives in fast-paced environments and excels at both macro-level planning and detail-oriented execution.

As a key member of the Chief Communications, Marketing & Advocacy Officer's leadership team, the Chief of Staff ensures focus, cohesion, and alignment across one of the organization's most externally facing and strategically significant projects. This is an opportunity to make an outsized impact on how the institution communicates, advocates, and connects with its communities.

What you'll get to do here:

  • Serve as a strategic advisor, providing high-level support in managing departmental priorities, identifying key opportunities, and maintaining alignment with organizational goals.
  • Drives alignment across multiple departments with agility and strategic foresight, leveraging exceptional interpersonal skills to cultivate a culture of partnership and innovation amidst ambiguity and competing priorities
  • Represent the department in internal and external meetings as needed, preparing follow-up materials, tracking outcomes, and ensuring continuity of action.
  • Partner closely with other department Chiefs of Staff to align efforts, facilitate collaboration, and share best practices across the organization.
  • Identify and operationalize opportunities for synergy across verticals and teams, breaking down silos to foster integration and collective impact.
  • Collaborate to enhance operational excellence through improved workflows, meeting structures, and shared information protocols.
  • Build and maintain systems for the efficient and consistent flow of information between the Chief Communications, Marketing & Advocacy Officer, department leadership, and broader organizational leadership.
  • Lead or coordinate high-priority initiatives, including cross-functional projects, time-sensitive efforts, and strategic opportunities requiring executive-level attention.
  • Manage the planning, execution, and progress tracking of special initiatives that span across the departments.
  • Conduct research, develop strategic framing, and assemble temporary working groups or task forces to address emerging needs, accelerate decision-making, and deliver on short- and long-term project goals.

You'll be a fit if you bring:

  • 8-10+ years of experience in roles spanning strategic operations, executive advising, development/fundraising strategy, or organizational planning in a complex, mission-driven organization.
  • Minimum of 5 years leadership experience required.
  • Experience navigating relationships with government entities, funders, community-based organizations, and internal executive teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders with discretion, diplomacy, and sound judgment.
  • Strategic thinker with strong operational instincts and project management skills
  • Highly relational with exceptional verbal and written communication abilities
  • Adept at connecting dots, synthesizing information, and identifying cross-functional opportunities
  • Comfortable representing senior leadership in high-stakes conversations
  • Proactive, highly organized, and solutions-oriented
