About the Role:

Liftoff is seeking an experienced Global Immigration Program Specialist (Contract) to support a high-impact transition period. This contractor will help us catch up on global immigration casework, support recruiting assessments, facilitate a team transition, and play a critical role in our change to a new immigration vendor. This role requires deep operational expertise, cross-functional fluency, and the ability to document and train others on complex processes with clarity.

Responsibilities:

Immigration Case Management (U.S. + Global)

  • Audit current immigration case backlog (U.S. and non-U.S.) and identify gaps or blockers
  • Partner with external counsel to address in-flight cases and ensure compliance
  • Track case statuses, maintain documentation, and coordinate timely updates to employees and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Legal on risk escalations and compliance needs related to global mobility

Talent & Recruiting Support

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to assess work authorization and visa needs during the hiring process
  • Establish a clear intake process for immigration assessments tied to global hiring
  • Respond to recruiter questions and develop self-serve tools for candidate eligibility workflows

Transition & Training Support

  • Document existing immigration processes, vendors, templates, and recurring FAQs
  • Deliver onboarding and upskilling support to new team member(s) on immigration basics and internal workflows
  • Ensure continuity during team transitions by surfacing risks and backstopping where needed

Vendor Oversight

  • Support ongoing interactions with our immigration vendor.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Immigration cases are triaged and stabilized within the first 4 weeks
  • Recruiting assessments are systematized and embedded into the hiring process
  • Handoff playbook and training materials are delivered by the midpoint
  • Vendor transition finalized with zero service disruption
  • New team member is fully ramped by the end of the contract

  • 5+ years of experience in global immigration and mobility casework, preferably in-house or via a mobility firm
  • Proven success in managing cross-border case escalations and global counsel
  • Experience supporting recruiting teams with hiring assessments and eligibility workflows
  • Skilled in documentation, training, and vendor coordination
  • Knowledge with immigration platforms (e.g., Envoy, Tracker, INSZoom)

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in high-growth tech environments or distributed teams
  • Exposure to country-specific mobility needs (e.g., Canada, UK, Singapore)
  • Basic knowledge of global employment law or international assignments

Location:

Required location for this role is in one of our entities in the Pacific Standard Time Zone: CA, NV, OR, and WA.

We are a remote-first company with US hubs in Redwood City, Los Angeles, and New York City.

Compensation:

The following are our hourly salary ranges for this role: 

  • SF Bay Area, NYC, Los Angeles/Orange County: $52-$62 / hour 
  • Seattle/Olympia, Austin, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Boston: $48-$57 / hour
  • All other cities and towns in our approved states: $45-$53 / hour
