Job Summary

 

The primary responsibilities of this position include all of the following: clinical teaching at both PCS staff, coordination of simulation activities, oversight of other staff in the lab, support of inter-professional staff, and continued scholarship in the field. Additional responsibilities may include involvement in off-campus, evening, or weekend duties. Support new hire clinical orientation.

Develop and maintain a culture of simulation throughout the Hospital and with our community partners; Develop and nurture this culture by being a trusted resource for educational opportunities through the use of academic and professional expertise to serve your profession, the hospital, and the community.

Cooperative extension includes identifying current needs, adapting research results into contemporary language, presenting research-supported information and education to the people of the state, providing leadership in identifying and presenting cutting-edge technology in their discipline, developing interdisciplinary approaches to problem solving, and collaborating with research and educational activities to stay current in their fields

Demonstrate technical expertise during simulation set up, operation and troubleshooting. Collegiality, as well as professional and ethical conduct, enhances teaching, learning and the general reputation of all persons in the academy

Develop educationally sound simulation curriculum (e. g. , scenarios, presentations) as needed. Review and approve simulation scenarios - help design, and coordinate a variety of system wide simulation initiatives.

Collaborate with the institution’s organizational leadership & education/ training personnel to assess organization’s learning needs, specifically those learning needs that can be met with simulation activities.

Teaching responsibilities include time spent in clinical and laboratory settings, particularly in fostering learning through the use of simulation; preparing teaching materials; conferring with clinicians, educators or designated personnel on course materials; directing individual and group studies and practice.

Administrative responsibilities include arranging clinical simulation activities for staff (nurses, physicians, Respiratory Therapist, and other clinical and non-clinical disciplines), and other organizing responsibilities as required.

Work with a broad array of stakeholders to contribute to the development of curriculum materials. Employ quality, risk management and process improvement strategies to optimize program outcomes, staff competency, and patient care.

Teaching effectiveness requires participation in peer review and professional development sessions.

Hospital service requires participation on departmental committees

 

Experience:

Required: 3-5 years

Education:

Required:  Associate's Degree in Nursing  or  Bachelor's Degree

Preferred: Master of Science in Nursing

Licenses And Certification:

Required:  Registered Nurse License - Current Maryland license or eligibility to obtain Maryland license
