As a Senior Payroll Specialist, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our payroll processes are accurate, compliant, and operating at their best. This is a critical role within the payroll department, responsible for ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence in payroll processing. This position demands expert knowledge of payment calculations, payroll systems, and wage and hour regulations. The Specialist will train and support both new and experienced Payroll Analysts, maintaining and updating training materials to reflect necessary changes in policies and procedures. The role also includes assisting with staff audits, supporting governance and attestation plans, managing payroll projects, performing system testing in the Oracle Cloud Payroll System, and providing backup coverage to the Payroll Manager to ensure that departmental objectives are met efficiently.

Job Responsibility:
  • Assist in conducting internal and external staff audits to ensure consistency and accuracy in payroll processing.
  • Identify discrepancies or areas for improvement and collaborate with team members to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  • Support the attestation and governance plan for Payroll and Compensation, leveraging expertise in best practices.
  • Ensure that payroll and compensation practices are compliant with industry standards and regulations, enhancing organizational integrity.
  • Lead and manage payroll projects related to special payments, new element creation, and other departmental initiatives, ensuring timely and successful execution.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to align project objectives with organizational goals.
  • Perform rigorous testing of the Oracle Cloud Payroll System to verify that all patches, updates, and tax fixes are implemented correctly and functioning as intended.
  • Proactively troubleshoot and resolve any system issues, ensuring minimal disruption to payroll operations.
  • Provide backup coverage for the Payroll Manager, assisting with overflow work to maintain departmental Service Level Agreements (SLAs) during peak times or absences.
  • Foster a supportive team environment by assisting colleagues and contributing to overall departmental success.
  • Consult on Payroll Programs by using expertise to determine best action as issues arise.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Understanding of state and Federal Payroll laws and requirements
  • Thorough understanding of Payroll Industry standard best practices and Fair Labor Standards Act
  • Understanding of Governance best practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to demonstrate high attention to detail, leadership, and organization
  • Skilled in written and verbal communication skills
  • Requires the ability to exercise judgment in prioritizing work
