Pay Philosophy
The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

We are excited for the opportunity for a strategic thinker and expert problem solver to join our team as a Principle Business Analyst ! In this essential role, you will leverage your specialized expertise to provide consultative support that drives insights and a more strategic lens within our organization. This person will conduct and assist Business Architects in domain-specific areas such as claims, distribution, product, service, data and the Frontier program. Your contributions will be pivotal in supporting our Business Architects by driving maturity assessments of current capabilities, aligning them to business processes and customer journeys, and enhancing our understanding of the complete insurance life cycle.You will perform thorough research and analysis, presenting your findings in clear artifacts with precision to recommend impactful changes and solutions that will elevate business outcomes. With minimal direction, you will navigate complex tasks, ensuring that our operations are not only efficient but also innovative.This role offers the unique chance to influence strategic decisions and improve our operational framework while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

At least 75% of time is spent on a combination of the following responsibilities:
  • Applies a more sophisticated level of research and analysis to business process changes. Integrates process improvement and business operations expertise to solve problems considered more complex in nature.
  • Conducts analyses based on operational, economic and/or financial data in order to quantify the competitive performance of business segments, evaluate potential operational changes, and/or design new approaches and methodologies at a strategic view.
  • Analyzes information to identify trends, patterns, gaps and insights using descriptive analytics. Typically uses data visualization tools to further business insights.
  • Builds the business case for making a change to current practices, programs or procedures. Conducts current state assessment, opportunity assessment, cost/benefit analysis, feasibility assessment, etc.
  • Partners with Business Architects and stakeholders on the evaluation of business capabilities to improve business outcomes. Evaluates business strategy changes, often considered of a large scope (e.g., function-wide).
  • Develops, updates, and analyzes more complex metrics used to determine operational performance, staffing needs, productivity, or other measures deemed valuable to an organization.
  • Assists with tooling needs of the business architects and assess the options within each
  • Develop a content strategy and structure for business architecture artifacts going forward
  • Develops, modifies and distributes standard and ad hoc management reports/dashboards to better understand the overall business outcomes. Develops presentations and shares findings as well as recommendations.
  • Receives, evaluates and responds to complex data-related inquiries by applying knowledge of data and business operations and obtaining information from various sources.
  • Provides mentoring to less experienced staff.
Qualifications
  • Displays strong research, problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Advanced business operations knowledge to include understanding the functions value chain and market conditions
  • Advanced influencing, relationship management & presentation skills
  • Strong ability to support change and impart value within an organization
  • Strong project management skills as part of implementing business process changes
  • Advanced knowledge of available data sources, strengths and shortcomings
  • May also be relevant based on the particular needs of the position: Advanced knowledge of Excel and strong knowledge of database software
  • Solid knowledge of business intelligence tools
  • Competencies typically acquired through a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in addition to 6+ years of relevant experience to include business analysis work
  • Advanced degree preferred
