Portfolio Product Owner - GenAI Platforms

Yesterday Boston, MA

Description
Liberty Mutual is seeking a technical, visionary platform owner to drive the evolution of our enterprise Generative AI (GenAI) platform strategy, a mission critical foundation powering Liberty's AI enabled transformation.

This executive will be the principal orchestrator of a platform strategy that includes a rapidly expanding portfolio of third-party tools (e.g., OpenAI ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) and custom-built capabilities (e.g., LibertyGPT, LibertyAIR). This includes shaping our ecosystem and playing a vital role in how Liberty scales AI capabilities across global operations and redefines the future of work.

Reporting to the CTO Investments, CIO Corporate Functions, this role requires exceptional technical depth, structured program leadership, and executive-ready influence. You will be the Overall Product Lead (OPL) for GenAI platforms and will need to bridge strategy, execution and governance across a global, highly regulated enterprise and a wide group of engineering and execution teams. Your ability to guide the platform's trajectory through rigorous technical research, then apply your technical depth to participate in informed decision-making will enable us to scale. Equally important is your collaborative leadership as you will be the trusted point of contact across departments and teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Platform Strategy & Ecosystem Leadership

  • Act as the Overall Product Lead (OPL) for Liberty's GenAI platform portfolio guiding strategic clarity and cohesion, enterprise alignment and outcome delivery
  • Translate Liberty's 2030 enterprise goals into actionable GenAI platform strategies to support both "Everyday AI" (employee augmentation) and capabilities enablement for AI-powered business transformation
  • Shape and evolve the end-to-end platform roadmap: foundational models, orchestration layers, agent frameworks and integration guardrails
  • Aligned to business unit visions, strategies, and priorities to set and communicate a compelling, measurable vision and direction for shared GenAI capabilities
  • Own platform performance, tracking KPIs, outcomes, and financial metrics (labor, compute, licenses) in partnership with our AIFinOps team
  • Contribute meaningful insights that will shape the investment and vendor strategy (e.g., OpenAI, Microsoft, AWS, etc.)
Execution Oversight & Cross-Org Coordination
  • Lead across a highly matrixed environment, leveraging storytelling and logic to drive alignment and acceleration
  • Regularly engage executives, risk functions (cyber, legal, compliance), and governance bodies (e.g., RAIC) to report progress, address risks, and secure investment
  • Design and run prioritization and intake processes supporting both use case enablement and "everyday AI" end-user adoption that balance aspiration with risk appetite and regulatory compliance
  • Support business unit technology teams in their AI use case implementation via well managed foundational components aligned with enterprise architecture standards
  • Partner with enterprise architecture to identify foundational AI solutions, aligned to our overarching platforms, to scale for broader adoption
  • Drive cultural adoption of platform standards and GenAI capabilities through education, influence and targeted enablement
Risk-Aware Innovation & Governance
  • Be a core thought partner to cyber, legal, compliance, and HR in designing GenAI guardrails that are risk-aware, not risk-averse
  • Provide input to risk experts to enable the evolution of controls and risk frameworks in support of this fast-moving space
  • Partner with legal to translate evolving regulatory obligations (GDPR, EU AI Act, etc.) into practical platform constraints and opportunities
  • Shape governance narratives with clarity and confidence to enable Liberty to lead responsibly in scaling AI
