Personal Lines Property & Specialty Underwriting Strategy Director

Do you enjoy developing broad strategies while also getting into the weeds on process? Are you analytical but also enjoy staying up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies? Then the manager of our Inspection Strategy and Operational Excellence team might be the role for you! This role is a key pillar within our Property & Specialty Underwriting Effectiveness organization.
We are searching for a leader that can help set the short- and long-term P&S inspection strategy, run our complicated and multi-faceted inspection program, launch new initiatives, develop analytics and reports to monitor success and lead a team of inspection experts. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Developing an inspection strategy and leading a team to execute on that strategy
- Partner cross functionally to develop and deliver on the strategy
- Staying up to date on vendors and new inspection technologies (ex. AI)
- Develop and execute monitoring and reporting to track the success of our programs
- Present frequently to P&S leadership, distribution leadership and other USRM teams
- Lead a team of ~5 strong analysts
- Continually define and identify process and operational improvements
Qualifications
- Master's degree or equivalent in mathematics, economics, statistics, or other quantitative field preferred
- Minimum 8 years, typically 10 years or more of relevant experience
- Expert skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analytics
- Must have exceptional planning, analytical, decision-making, communication, and project management skills
- Experience directly managing others required
- Experience managing operations beneficial
- High-level knowledge of data sources, tools, and the business (lines, systems, pricing plans), predictive modeling, and code (eg, SQL)
- Industry knowledge developed from internal meetings, news alerts, project-specific work, and proactive research into competitor strategies
Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
