Description
Our team isseeking a detail-oriented Principal Business Analyst to drive continuous process improvement, operational quality, and product management practices across Business Agility Operations. This role will lead retrospectives, implement and monitor process controls, perform operational and data analysis, manage key tools (JIRA, Shibumi, myLiberty, SharePoint), support AI and other program workstreams, and partner with product owners and stakeholders to translate process gaps into actionable decisions and communications.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and facilitate team and cross-team retrospectives to identify improvements and track action items to closure.
- Design, document, and refine Business Agility Operations processes for consistency, quality, and auditability.
- Conduct process analysis and create process documentation, process maps, and UI/flow diagrams (Lucid, Visio).
- Monitor process quality and controls; run data quality audits, identify gaps, propose remediation, and ensure adherence to standards.
- Perform operational and performance analyses: surface trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities using Excel, pivot tables, SQL, and analytics tools.
- Create, maintain, and publish dashboards and reports (Power BI, Excel) to measure process health and improvement outcomes.
- Manage Shibumi interactions: monthly and ad-hoc data pulls, MOR report drafts and data pulls, first drafts for reports, user adds/deletes/administration, and myLiberty syncs with Shibumi changes.
- Configure and support tools/workflows in JIRA; automate routine SharePoint processes (Power Automate / MS Flow); maintain SharePoint lists and related development.
- Support project and program management activities (including AI workstreams): plan, size, track, and report on tasks, milestones, and risks.
- Translate process gaps into actionable PowerPoint decision collateral and communication artifacts; create decks for leaders, town halls, and stakeholder briefings.
- Use collaboration tools (Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, myLiberty, Lucid) to coordinate work, capture decisions, and drive adoption; manage BA communication channels (Teams, Need2Know, SharePoint, myLiberty).
- Provide backup support for BA Learning Bytes, Strategy Overviews, Leader Sessions, Town Halls, and other communications/events.
- Pull and publish Shine reports and other regular operational publications.
- Collaborate with product owners, Scrum Masters, engineering, and stakeholders to prioritize and implement changes.
- Train teams on process changes and best practices and support change adoption; perform impact analysis and stakeholder management using change frameworks (Prosci/ADKAR recommended).
- 3+ years in process, operations, or product/BA analysis (or equivalent).
- Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas) and data-driven decision making.
- Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement, process analysis, or operational excellence; able to conduct data quality audits.
- Hands-on experience with JIRA (creating/maintaining agile workflows and boards) and managing tool configurations.
- Experience using Microsoft Teams and SharePoint, including building SharePoint lists and basic automation with Power Automate/MS Flow.
- Familiarity with agile frameworks and experience facilitating retrospectives.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and change management skills; able to produce clear PowerPoint presentations and decision collateral.
- Proven ability to translate process gaps into actionable plans and communicate impacts across levels.
- Experience building dashboards in Power BI and presenting findings in PowerPoint.
- Experience with SQL, data visualization tools, or advanced analytics.
- Experience with Lucid or similar process/product collaboration and diagramming tools.
- Familiarity with Shibumi and myLiberty or equivalent portfolio/program management tools; experience pulling and managing Shibumi data and users.
- Familiarity with RPA or automation tools (UiPath) and process improvement certifications (Lean Six Sigma green belt).
- Formal change management training or experience implementing Prosci/ADKAR approaches.
- Prior experience administering Shibumi at a program level (i.e. Schema changes, dashboard build, funding, etc.).

- Advanced degree preferred
Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
