Leidos is seeking a Windows System/VMware Engineer with a current TS/SCI clearance to join our team in Suitland, MD. In this role, you'll provide your expertise in Windows System Engineering while supporting the Intelligence Community (IC) at the National Maritime Intelligence Center (NMIC) facility. As a key player on our team, you'll maintain a secure VMware Environment, which includes management of virtual machine operations and maintenance, configuration management, installations, performance and capacity planning. You will be able to tackle complex problems using your extensive applications and technical knowledge, conceptualizing and interpreting requirements to create effective solutions.

What Will You Do

  • Implement, upgrade/migrate, and maintain VMware hypervisor infrastructure to include technical hands-on support for the VMware platform.
  • Handle standard VMware engineer duties and recommend innovative and automated approaches wherever possible for infrastructure tasks.
  • Work with stakeholders and customers to understand ESXi host utilization, lifecycle, protection requirements and develop effective workable solutions and processes.
  • Lead the triage and resolution of escalated, complex incidents, problems, or capacity concerns.
  • Be responsible for maintaining daily operations, monitoring, problem identification/resolution of VMware server/systems, applications, and analyzing activity and performance ensuring system/application is providing optimum performance and availability.
  • Create and maintain security documentation for VMWare servers, applications, and VMware infrastructure ensuring all systems maintain compliant to current security policies.
  • Work across IT functional boundaries (other system administrators, SAN administrators, Network administrators, Database administrators, etc.) with configuration, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrade and system management for optimum performance and reliability.
  • Research, document and recommend new system related technologies and as well as migration and upgrade paths that could enhance, improve, automate and provide more efficiency and or up-to-date technologies to the operational environment.

What Sets You Apart (job qualifications)

  • Current DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years of related work experience; additional years of experience may be allowed in lieu of a degree
  • 7 years hands-on experience with VMware in a Windows environment
  • Expert knowledge with VMware 7.0 or higher
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in designing & managing a VMware virtual infrastructure
  • Experience with SAN storage technologies (NetApp)
  • Must be willing to work at the customer site in Suitland, MD, remote/hybrid not available.

Certification Requirement

  • Active IAT Level II DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification (e.g., Security+ CE) or higher
  • VMware certification
  • A current VMware certification or the ability to obtain 90 days from date of offer of acceptance

Pay Range:

Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
