Leidos is looking for a Technical Writer to join our team in Anchorage, Alaska. The ideal candidate will support the FAA Weather Camera Program.
The NISC contract supports the FAA across the country and we are seeking a technical writer with strong project management experience and technical knowledge to join our team. The candidate will be expected to champion each project and site development process, working with the Field Engineer to complete and validate site engineering packages, ensure complete and consistent documentation, and help coordinate projects across the engineering team. The ideal candidate will be one who is fastidious and thorough when adhering to our standards and requirements with a very strong inclination towards automation wherever possible.

Primary Tasks will be to:
- Provide a comprehensive review and analysis of all aspects of system development including but not limited to mission needs assessment, system design, site selections, planning, deployment, site troubleshooting, and verification of system performance.
- Work with Field Engineers to write and complete Project Documentation and overall project planning.
- Write high level system and program documentation (SOP, Tech Manuals, Engineering Plans, Etc).
- Understand the environmental and logistical challenges of different sites across Alaska, Hawaii, and Lower 48.
- Able to work with remote team members and provide timely, clear instruction. This will require an in-depth understanding of system infrastructure.
Position approximately requires 10% travel.

Required Qualifications:
- 4 years of experience in Project Planning / Coordination.
- Bachelor degree in related field OR relevant field with 4 years relevant experience OR Masters with 2 years of relevant experience. Additional years of relevant experience will be considered/maybe accepted in lieu of a degree.
- Have the ability OR skill to perform problem solving OR demonstrate system thinking.
- Technical Writing Expertise.
- Strong verbal and written technical communication skills.
- Ability to liaise with government, vendors, and other stakeholders for problem resolution.
- Experience with monitoring systems.
- Alaska / Remote construction and planning experience with Weather Camera OR similar systems.
- Experience and willingness to travel to remote Alaska sites and work in rugged conditions any time of year. Also potential for traveling to Hawaii sites and Lower 48.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability (To be eligible for Public Trust Security Clearance, one must be either a U.S. Citizen OR a U.S. Permanent Resident/Green Card holder who has resided in the U.S.A for the past 3 years of the past 5 years consecutively with no breaks).

Pay Range:
Pay Range $63,700.00 - $115,150.00
