The National Security Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for an AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 Surface Sonar Technician focused on OK-410 Winch and peripheral equipment Operations, Maintenance, Troubleshooting, and Repair. Technician to work on-site at NSWCDD Dam Neck Annex in Virginia Beach, VA. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the Surface Sonar mission. In this mission, Leidos provides engineering and technical support to the AN/SQQ-89 Hardware In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) for the United States Navy's Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Systems installed on surface ships. Specific systems include the AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 system, OK-410(V)3 / OK-410(V)4 Winches and associated equipment.

Responsibilities - Work you'll do:

  • Perform OK-410 Winch operability assessments, adjustments/alignments, problem diagnosis, and corrective maintenance procedures.
  • Perform OK-410 Winch and associated equipment reclamations from decommissioned Naval Vessels.
  • Perform AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 hardware and software installation, evaluation, and test of Sonar systems to include electrical/electronic systems, combat systems, OK-410 Winch and peripheral equipment, and HM&E equipment associated with shipboard Sonars.
  • Plan and conduct projects for Sonar equipment of various scopes.
  • Review installation drawings and electronic schematics to evaluate plans and troubleshoot issues discovered.
  • May supervise small technical team during execution of a project.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians.
  • Review test procedures and technical documents, providing feedback and recommendations for change.
  • Conduct tests and analyze results.
  • Ensure serviceability of equipment delivered to installation activities.
  • Provide care and protection, maintenance, and inspections of delivered equipment or material.
  • Prepare reports detailing progress, remaining work to be completed, and issues encountered.
  • Participate in and make recommendations to various working groups.

Required Experience, Skills, and Education:

  • HS diploma and 4+ more years of prior relevant experience.
  • 4+ years of hands-on Fleet experience with OK-410(V)1/3 Winch Operations, Maintenance, Troubleshooting, and Repair.
  • Possess the Navy Sonar Technician AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 Maintainer NEC.
  • Experience analyzing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 sonar system.
  • Familiarity with the Linux operating system.
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain CompTIA certification in one or more of the following: A+, Network+, or Security+.
  • Clearance requirements: Secret clearance required to start

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education - Favorable if you have:

  • Hands-on Fleet experience with OK-410(V)4 Winch Operations, Maintenance, Troubleshooting, and Repair.
  • Possess the Navy Sonar Technician AN/SQQ-89(V) ITASS Maintainer NEC.
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux operating system.
  • Experience installing and configuring Network Switches.
  • Copper, fiber, and data cable fabrication qualifications and experience.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $44,850.00 - $81,075.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
