Leidos is seeking a Safety Manager who will directly support the Leidos General Manager to implement and manage the Safety Program for the Operation and Maintenance of the Hawthorne Army Depot (HWAD) located in Hawthorne, NV. The HWAD provides Supply Depot Operations (SDO) including but not limited to ammunition receipt, issue, surveillance, warehousing and demilitarization (DEMIL), as well as the operation and maintenance of Hawthorne Army Depot (HWAD) located in Hawthorne, NV. HWAD is a Government-Owned, Contractor-Operated (GOCO) facility that serves as an archival storage and DEMIL location for a wide array of conventional and non-standard ammunition. In addition to the storage and DEMIL of ammunition, the operating contractor is required to maintain and modernize equipment and facilities, and provide numerous base support services (e.g., grounds maintenance, fire protection, safety and security, etc.).
As the Safety Manager, you will develop, implement, and maintain a Safety Program that will protect the lives and health of the Leidos employees, Government employees, and the public from the HWAD operations and those of its tenants and subcontractors as well as Government property. You will interface with the HWAD Government Safety Office and with any local, state, or Federal agencies or commissions for maintain safe operation of HWAD. You will prepare, present and maintain explosives storage licenses; a Written Safety Plan; a Decontamination Plan; an Emergency Action Plan; and a Safety Training Plan with tracking of Safety Certifications.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the development, implementation, and compliance of the Safety Program for HWAD.
- Ensures regular occupational and industrial safety training is scheduled and conducted.
- Conducts daily, weekly, and monthly safety inspections and surveillance, recommending corrective actions as needed.
- Investigates all accidents to determine preventive measures and conducts safety stand-down briefings as necessary.
- Ensures compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA) and explosive safety operations in accordance with local and U.S. environmental safety regulations.
- Provides oversight of OSHA and HAZMAT programs related to the reception, storage, and issue of ammunition, residue, and packaging materials.
- Ensures availability of required safety information and materials, including Safety Data Sheets, proper container labeling, and industrial equipment markings.
- Works closely with Government personnel, QASAS, Area Managers, Supervisors, and Safety Representatives to ensure compliance with OSHA and explosive safety directives.
- Monitors regular safety briefings and maintains daily communication with leadership to ensure a safe work environment.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of applicable ammunition, explosives, and OSHA safety standards.
- Serves as principal advisor to the Program Manager on all safety matters and provides reports to senior government and company officials.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Clearance Required to be considered:
- Active Secret clearance.
Required Experience, Skills, and Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Safety, or Management with 6 years' direct experience in occupational and industrial safety with State, Federal, and/or Dept. of Defense Explosives Safety regulations and policies. (4 additional years of demonstrated experience years of additional experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree)
- Must have knowledge of explosive safety, health and safety plans, proper munitions storage procedures, demilitarization operations, vehicle safety, and material safety hazards.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations, generate reports, and develop plans, policies, and procedures.
- Must have a valid Driver's License in order to reach various sites on the Depot to conduct proper inspections and investigations after an incident or accident involving ammunition, explosives, and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications.
- Government contracting experience on HWAD

Pay Range:
Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
