Safety Integrator & Facilitator
Description
The Safety Integrator and Facilitator is a specialized position within the Safety department designed to strengthen and mature ASC's Safety Management System (SMS). While leveraging cross-functional knowledge of safety and quality practices, the focus of this role is to advance the capability, consistency, and performance of Safety across ASC and the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). The candidate will lead targeted improvement initiatives, integrate safety data management and analytics, and drive alignment with ASC's Mission Assurance goals. This position is CONUS-based with some domestic and international travel, but does not include Antarctic deployments.

The anticipated pay range for this role is $90,000 - $100,000 annually.

About the Antarctic Support Contract:
Leidos Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) is the prime contractor to the National Science Foundation (NSF) in support of the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). Leidos supports the NSF's Office of Polar Program's Antarctic Infrastructure and Logistics by aligning with their Mission and Vision Statements:
- Vision: Expanding our scientific reach in Antarctica through increased operational and logistical effectiveness.
- Mission: To provide the operational and logistical platform necessary for the U.S. to conduct world-class science in Antarctica and maintain its active and influential presence on the continent.
Leidos ASC provides science and logistics support for approximately 150 science and technical events across three geographically remote research stations; McMurdo Station, Palmer Station, and South Pole Station and several deep field sites across Antarctica. Each station or field site supports world class research across multiple science disciplines. The planning and implementation of science support requirements in Antarctica is a critical part of our mission.

The Challenge:
- Integrate Safety principles into ASC operational and programmatic activities, supporting Mission Assurance goals.
- Plan, lead, and facilitate focused improvement initiatives (Tiger Teams, Kaizens) to resolve systemic issues and embed sustainable solutions.
- Support and conduct relevant safety and process Audits and Assessments, including planning, protocol development, execution, and reporting, in alignment with OSHA 1910 and 1926, ISO 45001, ANSI Z590.3, and ASC internal practices as identified.
- Compile, track, and evaluate Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) for closure and effectiveness reviews; ensure alignment with Mission Assurance KPIs.
- Partner with functional areas across ASC to integrate Safety improvements and ensure operational activities meet internal and external requirements.
- Facilitate lessons learned and continuous improvement sessions, ensuring outputs are actionable, measurable, and drive Safety maturity throughout the ASC's programs.
- Support incident investigations using Human Factors and Human Operational Performance (HOP) principles, ensuring learnings are captured and applied to prevent recurrence.
- Develop and manage Safety data systems, including Severity-Based Leading Indicators (SBLI), ensuring actionable insights are generated to support proactive risk management.
- Leverage platforms such as Orca, Power BI, and similar tools to analyze incident data, identify trends, and provide benchmark reporting that supports Safety culture maturity.
- Coordinate and contribute to the development of ASC dashboards, performance metrics, and reporting tools that track Safety impacts to program's progress and outcomes.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and communications for ASC leadership and Mission Assurance stakeholders.
- Act as a cross-functional facilitator, providing coaching, training, and guidance on Safety, Quality, and process improvement methods.
What Sets You Apart:
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Quality Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field; or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum four (4+) years of experience in Safety, Quality, or Mission Assurance roles with demonstrated knowledge of applicable regulations, standards, and practices.
- Working knowledge of OSHA 29CFR 1910, 1926, ISO 9001 integration, ISO 45001 standards, DOE ISMS 450 and 414, or equivalent frameworks.
- Proven experience in leading audits, assessments, or improvement initiatives in complex or remote program environments.
- Strong facilitation, analytical, and problem-solving skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 10-15%).
You May Also Have:
- Professional certification in Safety (CSP, OHST) and/or Quality (CQA, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt).
- Experience supporting U.S. government contracts, remote operations, or scientific research programs.
- Familiarity with Human Factors Analysis, Human Operational Performance (HOP), and systems-based safety approaches.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and quality management tools.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $72,150.00 - $130,425.00
