Are you passionate about research studies and analyses? Leidos is seeking a Research Assistant in Human Systems Integration to join our team onboard Naval Submarine Base New London. (NSMRL). The Research Assistant will work with the Human Systems Integrations (HSI) team. The HSI team works to understand and improve the relationship between novel technologies and their human users. As a Research Assistant, you will assist in conducting data collections, organizing data for analysis and development efforts, and provide administrative support.

The Challenge:

  • Interact with and assist Principal Investigator (PI) and engineers at the NSMRL in all aspects of research efforts, to include experimental planning, data collection, data analysis, documentation, and reporting.
  • Assist with conducting literature searches and prepare bibliographies; assist Principal Scientists with the preparation of research protocols, analyses, and briefing packages.
  • Prepare necessary support documentation and purchase requisitions on approved purchases.
  • Prepare, review, and disseminate various internal or external communications.
  • Provide planning and research support to various projects or studies as directed.
  • Maintain contacts to keep abreast of developments in field or areas of interest.
  • Assist Government PI with preparing and/or edit technical or periodic reports, records, documents, and correspondence.
  • Coordinate activities and schedules of the extended research team.
  • Assist HSI team with data collections, data organization, and administrative support.
  • Execute setup, testing, and troubleshooting of experimental equipment.
  • Assist in all aspects of research subject recruiting and coordinate with subjects and other research personnel to ensure successful protocol execution.
  • Prepare and present reports, presentations, and other documents as directed.
  • Adhere to and implement scientific review board and institutional board review procedures.
  • Coordinate with acquisition personnel to ensure contracts are executed in a timely manner. Prepare travel and purchase requests with necessary support documentation.

What Sets You Apart:

  • Candidates must have completed at least an Associate's degree in a STEM field, with applicable experience.
  • Demonstrate the ability to extend and apply the knowledge of research to the missions of the NSMRL Command and the Navy.
  • Interpersonal communication skills are required to interface will all affected teams, personnel, and vendors.
  • Ability to acquire, at a minimum, a SECRET classification access level. Preference will be given to a candidate who already has this clearance level, but current clearance is not required.
  • Due to Federal contract requirements, US citizenship is required.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Work is to be primarily performed on a government installation. The normal work week is Monday through Friday 0800 to 1630.
  • Some offsite travel (~10%) may be required for data collection efforts, presentations, etc.

You Might Also Have:

  • Experience in a human subject research setting.
  • Experience writing scientific articles and technical reports.
  • Desire to seek a career supporting military health sciences
  • Experience working with the US federal government.
  • The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • The ability to work within a collaborative team environment, with demonstrated personal drive and initiative to achieve goals.
  • An organized and detail-oriented self-starter with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work self-sufficiently given direction and resources.
  • Ability to think critically, solve problems independently and exercise judgement and common sense.
  • Strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to effectively work with minimum supervision.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, PHI/PII compliance, etc.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $39,650.00 - $71,675.00
