Network/Systems Engineer - Mid-Level Cisco Systems Engineer Leidos National Security Sector | Regan Test Site

Are you ready to deliver innovative network solutions in support of national defense? Leidos is seeking a Mid-Level Cisco Network Systems Engineer to support Department of Defense (DoD) operations and modernization at the Regan Test Site. You'll work with advanced Cisco Nexus and Catalyst hardware while integrating VMware vSphere, Dell VxRail, and secure enterprise networking solutions into mission-critical defense environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure and maintain secure, compliant Cisco Nexus (7K, 9K) and Catalyst (3K, 9K) environments.
  • Design and manage layer 2/3 network topologies, including VLANs, OSPF, BGP, VPCs, STP, and QoS.
  • Integrate VMware virtual networking technologies into Dell VxRail hyperconverged platforms.
  • Ensure network security compliance with RMF, DISA STIGs, and DoD security standards.
  • Troubleshoot physical and virtual networking issues, optimizing availability, security, and performance.
  • Maintain documentation, security checklists, and system architecture diagrams.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, virtualization, and systems teams on deployments and audits.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related discipline with 4+ years of relevant experience (additional experience, training, and/or certifications may substitute degree requirement).
  • U.S. Citizenship with active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and maintaining Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches.
  • Experience working in DoD or defense contractor environments, supporting accreditation and compliance.
  • Proven knowledge of VMware virtual networking, vSphere Distributed Switches (VDS), and VxRail.
  • DoD-8570 IAT II certification (e.g., CompTIA Sec+, CCNA Sec).
  • CCNA Certification required.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% as needed.

Preferred:

  • CCNP Enterprise or Data Center certification.
  • Experience deploying Dell EMC VxRail in secure environments.
  • Familiarity with STIG compliance, RMF, system hardening, and DoD best practices.
  • Exposure to vSAN, NSX, and VMware automation tools.
  • Knowledge of network monitoring, log analysis, and change control in DoD settings.
  • Certifications: VCP-DCV, VCAP-NV, Dell EMC VxRail Specialist.
  • Experience with network automation (Ansible, Python).

Pay Range:

Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00
