Network Engineer (SME)

Leidos has an immediate opening for a Network Engineer SME. This role provides technical expertise in network engineering, administration, and operations. This role maintains enterprise network infrastructure to ensure proper configuration, availability, performance, capacity, and maintenance (including application of the latest patches and upgrades). This role monitors technology obsolescence, manages upgrades, and evaluates alternatives across on-premises and cloud IT infrastructures, both virtual and physical. This role monitors operations and collects and evaluates metrics to manage network services and for inclusion into project KPIs and Service Level Agreements (SLA). This individual performs risk assessment, risk mitigation analysis, vendor trade studies, and appropriate documentation to ensure network services are available according to established Service Level Agreements (SLA). This role ensures continuity of operations including disaster recovery.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • This role is responsible for architecture, design, installation, configuration, administration, support, and maintenance of networks, including associated hardware and cloud resources.
  • Duties include updating to new technologies, tuning performance, and prioritizing the implementation of critical system patches.
  • This infrastructure includes on-premises and cloud resources.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Expert in providing technical/management leadership on major tasks or technology assignments.
  • Expert in establishing goals and plans that meet project objectives.
  • Domain and expert technical knowledge.
  • Expert in directing and controlling activities for a client, having overall responsibility for financial management, methods, and staffing to ensure that technical requirements are met.
  • Expert in interfacing with senior management and negotiating with clients on requirements and deliverables.
  • Experience with Cloud technologies -AWS
  • Expert experience in scripting skills with shell, python, PERL and the like
  • Proven experience installing and maintaining security patches on servers
  • Documented experience creating maintaining and implanting detailed documentation for standard systems operating procedures
  • Expert experience supporting Windows and Unix environments
  • Ability to analyze available hardware and software from external vendors and make recommendations for purchase and installation
  • Expert experience with ITIL
  • In-depth knowledge of Cisco Enterprise environments
  • Expert experience with IP, Routing and Connection services
  • Expert experience working on a SAFe Agile Framework.

Candidate must have a Master's degree with 15 or more years of prior relevant experience or a Doctorate with 13 or more years of prior relevant experience.

Candidate must have a current TS/SCI w/poly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing DevOps infrastructure using GitHub, Jenkins, Ansible and related tools.
  • CCNA certification

Pay Range:

Pay Range $131,300.00 - $237,350.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
